The 33rd game of the Cricket World Cup is going to be a well-attended affair as the hosts India will be playing Sri Lanka at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. The match will take place on November 2nd with an 08:30 GMT start time. With six wins out of six, India have all but booked themselves a spot in the semi-finals, while Sri Lanka are hoping for some big miracle. Will India keep their undefeated run going or will Sri Lanka manage to cause an upset? You can find out my thoughts below as well as the odds that are being offered at top cricket betting sites in the UK.
💯 India v New Zealand Betting Odds
A bookie that does not offer its punters betting odds for the biggest sports is one that will quickly go out of business, so it should not be surprising to find out that most bookmakers in the UK will offer some kind of cricket betting platform. However, they have not all been created on an equal level, and this is where I enter the fray. Below you can find the odds on offer for three quality markets.
Match Winners Odds: India v Sri Lanka
If you would like to put money on the winner of this India vs Sri Lanka game, then you find some of the best match winner odds in the following table:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
India | 1.10 | 1.10 | 1.17 | 1.15 | 1.15 |
Sri Lanka | 4.65 | 4.65 | 5.00 | 4.25 | 5.25 |
Top Batsman Odds: India v Sri Lanka
If a sport does not have many markets on which punters can put their money on, then it will not be popular with sports bettors as they will end up getting bored quickly. This will never be the case when you are betting on cricket as there are so many markets that you can bet on, ensuring that entertainment is not in short supply. The top batsman market is the most entertaining cricket market for me as it gives you a sense of attachment to your selected player - you will go through the emotions as he goes through his innings.
Below are three Indian and Sri Lankan players who I would consider for the top batsman market and their most recent top batsman odds:
India:
Player | ||
---|---|---|
Rohit Sharma | 3.50 | 3.00 |
Virat Kohli | 3.75 | 2.62 |
Shubman Gill | 4.00 | 2.87 |
Sri Lanka:
Player | ||
---|---|---|
Pathum Nissanka | 4.50 | 3.25 |
Kusal Mendis | 4.33 | 3.25 |
Sadeera Samarawickrama | 5.50 | 4.00 |
Top Wicket Taker Odds: India v Sri Lanka
Sometimes you might not know a lot about a team's batters, and in these cases, I suggest that you think about placing a wager on the top bowler market. With this market, you have to try and select the player that will get the most wickets for their country in the match. If there is a draw between two or more bowlers, then the economy rate will decide whether you win your bet or not. There is a lot of fun with this market as there is a lot of emotion riding on each ball that he bowls.
Below you can find three Sri Lankan and Indian bowlers that are worth considering for this market. I have also provided you with their top wicket taker odds:
India:
Player | ||
---|---|---|
Jasprit Bumrah | 3.50 | 3.00 |
Mohammed Shami | *goto William-Hill-Sport[4.00] | 3.00 |
Kuldeep Yadav | 3.75 | 3.75 |
Sri Lanka:
Player | ||
---|---|---|
Dilshan Madushanka | 3.25 | 3.00 |
Maheesh Theekshana | 4.00 | 3.25 |
Kasun Rajitha | 4.00 | 3.25 |
The above odds were correct at the time of writing. For updated odds, go to the bookmakers' sites.
🔍 India v Sri Lanka Match Winner Prediction
India, as many expected, have been the best team at the 2023 World Cup, winning every match that they have played so far. I am not exaggerating when I say that nobody has really challenged them yet. Sri Lanka have won two matches out of six, so it is not difficult to see the likely direction of this match.
India might have thought that they were finally in a game when England restricted them to just 229 in their last match, but their bowlers had other ideas and managed to bowl England out for just 129 runs. If this quality Indian batting line-up does not get you, then you can back their bowling attack to do so. It is hard to see anyone stopping them from lifting the title.
Sri Lanka, in their last game, became the latest team to lose to an improving Afghanistan - they also beat England and Pakistan. The Sri Lankans scored 241 in their innings, and Afghanistan chased it down with ease as they had seven wickets and just under five overs remaining. Many of the Sri Lankan batsmen got a start, but could not kick on to make a big score.
India are better than Sri Lanka when it comes to fielding, batting, and bowling, so it would be quite a shock if they lost their first match of the tournament against them.
My India v Sri Lanka winner prediction: India to win!
✔️ India v Sri Lanka CWC Betting Tips
The main reason that you are reading my prediction is that you are thinking about placing some bets on this game, which is why I am now going to give you some CWC betting tips for this India v Sri Lanka match.
Match Winner: India to Win
While India are the better team and have been playing the better cricket, the Sri Lankans do have something to cling to and this is their record against India at World Cups. They have played India nine times at previous tournaments, and have managed to win four times - India have also won four, while there has been one no result. Despite their decent WC record, it is hard to see them being able to put in a performance that is good enough to win this time around.
If Sri Lanka manage to get some early wickets to ramp up the pressure, there will probably be two other players that will step up to the plate and save the day. To beat this Indian team, you probably require around 80% of their team to underperform on the day, and this is going to be a rarity.
Sri Lanka's squad is full of inexperienced and young players, and they sometimes crumble when put under a lot of pressure. However, if they do end up being beaten easily, which is a distinct possibility, it will be a solid learning curve. Although it should be an easy win for India, I do not recommend betting on them since the odds are far too short.
If you still want to bet on them though, Spreadex Sports are currently odds of 1.15.
India's Top Batsman Winner: Rohit Sharma to Win
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been two of the best batters at this World Cup, so it was a 50/50 decision between these two for the top scorer in this match. I went for Sharma in the end as I believe that he has slightly better form, and he also gets to bat in the PowerPlay where there are fewer fielders outside the 30-yard circle. In six games, he has smashed 398 runs with a 66.30 average.
Those who want to bet on Shamra to be India's top score can find odds of 3.50 at William Hill Sport.
Sri Lanka Top Batsman Winner: Sadeera Samarawickrama to Win
Samarawickrama has shown just how good a middle-order batsman he is, scoring a total of 331 runs from the six matches that Sri Lanka have played. He averages 82.75 with the bat and has even notched up a century at this World Cup. Kusal Mendis is someone else to consider for this market, but I believe that Samarawickrama is in slightly better touch, which is why my money is on him.
If you agree and want to put a bet on Samarawickrama to score for Sri Lanka, then William Hill are currently offering odds of 5.50.
India's Top Wicket Taker: Mohammed Shami to Win Top Wicket Taker
Mohammed Shami has played only two matches for India at the World Cup, and he already has nine wickets to his name at a really impressive average of 8.44. He is currently bowling the best that he has in a long time, and he will be quietly confident of adding some more wickets to his haul when he comes up against an average Sri Lanka batting unit. Shami is like one of those fine wines that just gets better with age.
If you believe that Shami will collect the most Sri Lankan wickets, then William Hill have odds of 4.00 available at the moment.
Sri Lanka's Top Wicket Taker: Dilshan Madushanka to Win Top Wicket Taker
Dilshan Madushanka has been really good at this World Cup, picking up 13 wickets at a 24.46 average. He can bowl quickly, but he also has the ability to subtly change his pace, which makes it very hard for opposing batters to pick him. Furthermore, he can swing the cherry back into right-handers, trapping them LBW. With his skill, I do feel that he can cause many issues for the Indian batters.
If you feel the same, then William Hill currently have odds of 3.25 on offer.
🎁 India v Sri Lanka CWC Bonuses
There are many bookmakers available to UK punters, and new UK betting sites are entering the fray constantly, making for an even more fiercely competitive industry. While this extreme competition is a pain in the proverbial behind for bookies, it is awesome for us cricket bettors because it forces them to offer a variety of free bets and bonuses in order to stand out and attract new punters.
I have done a lot of research on the best CWC free bets that British sports bettors can currently claim, and you can see the best ones in the table below. Make sure that you pay attention to the T&Cs of each one.
