The best first-leg match of the Champions League quarter-finals was Real Madrid vs Manchester City as it finished 3-3, with each goal being an absolute peach. In all honesty, this was a match that would have been worthy of the Champions League final as the quality on display was that high. They have to do it all again on Wednesday evening, and football fans, even those who do not support either team, will be eagerly awaiting kick-off. Below you can find out who I think will go on and book themselves a spot in the semi-finals.
🏆 Manchester City vs Real Madrid: Who Will Win?
Manchester City had the best weekend possible in the English Premier League. They took on Luton and won 5-1, and then Liverpool lost 1-0 to Palace and Arsenal lost 2-0 to Aston Villa. As a result, they are now top of the EPL table, knowing that they will be Champions for the 4th season in a row if they win their remaining matches. They will enter this second leg on a high, which is definitely not something Real would have been hoping for.
Real Madrid picked up a tense 1-0 win against Mallorca on Saturday evening, which gives them an eight-point cushion over Barcelona, who are occupying second place. With seven games remaining, their fans will be confident of claiming the La Liga title, so they will turn their attention to the UCL and the chance for Real Madrid to claim their 15th Champions League title - their last UCL trophy was earned in the 2021/22 season when they beat Liverpool in the final.
I do not think they will get through to the semi-finals though as I am backing Manchester City to win this match solely because they are playing at home. As for the scoreline, I reckon this will be another high-scoring match, so I am going to go for a 3-2 win for Pep Guardiola's men.
My Prediction: 🏆 Man City 3 Real Madrid 2 ⚽

🏅 Manchester City vs Real Madrid: Match Winner Odds
Manchester City and Real Madrid have played against each other a total of 12 times, and Man City have managed to pick up five wins compared to Real Madrid's three. This means that they have also played out four draws. Last week, the game got off to a flier when Bernando Silva opened the scoring in the 2nd minute. However, a Ruben Dias own goal in the 12th minute and a Rodyrgo goal in the 14th gave Real a 2-1 lead. Phil Foden equalised with a quality goal in the 66th minute and Gvardiol smashed one in five minutes later to give City the advantage. Then, in the 79th minute, Valverde made sure that we would be heading to Manchester all square.
You are probably expecting the match winner odds to be pretty close, but they are anything but. This can only be put down to the fact that Manchester City are playing at home. It is not often that you will come across such long odds for a Real Madrid win. Check out the match winner odds below:

⚽ Manchester City vs Real Madrid: Both Teams To Score Odds
When you look at the attacking talent that both of these teams have at their disposal, you will not be surprised when I tell you that the bookies are expecting both teams to find the back of the net. As you know already from my score prediction, I also think this is the case, and my reasons for thinking this will be explained a little later on. For now, just take a minute or two to check out the BTTS odds below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.55 | 1.55 | 1.57 | 1.54 | 1.60 |
No | 2.35 | 2.35 | 2.25 | 2.23 | 2.28 |
🥅 Manchester City vs Real Madrid: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
These five selected bookmakers believe that there is a very good chance that over 2.5 goals will be scored in this match, although they do not think that the over 3.5 goals market will be hit. What these odds, along with the above odds, tell us is that the bookies believe that City will come out on top as 2-1 winners. If you like to make use of the over/under 2.5 goals market, then check out the odds below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.57 | 1.57 | 1.60 | 1.58 | 1.61 |

✔️ Manchester City vs Real Madrid - Betting Tips
In this particular part of my Man City vs Real Madrid betting guide, I am going to provide you with four top tips for this match. Whether you are using free bet or your own money, I do suggest that you make it a habit of checking out what experienced football predictors are expecting to happen before you put down a bet.
- Tip 1: Bet on Manchester City to win: Real Madrid have played six matches at the Etihad in their history, and they have failed to win a single one - two draws and four losses. They played each other at the semi-final stage last year, and Pep's men picked up a 4-0 win in the second leg to book their spot in the final. City have won all four of their home UCL matches this season, and have not lost at home in the EPL. The Etihad has become a bit of a fortress, and those who want to back Man City to win can find odds of 1.67 at 10Bet Sports.
- Tip 2: Bet on both teams to score: From the ten matches that these two teams have played against each other, both teams have scored on eight occasions. This means that 80% of their matches have ended with the BTTS market coming to fruition. Both teams have been a little shaky at the back at times this season, and it is hard to see either keeping a clean sheet when there is such attacking talent all over the field. If you want to put money on BTTS, then BetUK Sports are offering odds of 1.60 at present.
- Tip 3: Bet on Kevin de Bruyne to score: The Belgian is a man for the big occasions and he also just so happens to be one of the best footballers in the world. He has only made 17 appearances for City this season due to injury issues, and in this time he has managed to score four goals. I can see him putting in a big show on Wednesday evening and if you also think he will score, then LeoVegas Sports are currently offering odds of 3.45 at present.
- Tip 4: Bet on a 3-2 win for Man City: This is a game that should have plenty of goals in it and I am expecting there to be a lot of twists and turns over the course of 90 minutes. However, City's home support should spur them on, and I can see them winning by a goal to book themselves a spot in the semi-finals. If you want to bet on a 3-2 scoreline, then Betiton Sport are currently offering odds of 15.00 for this outcome.
N.B. Always make sure that you gamble responsibly. Set yourself a budget and stick to it. Never chase your losses.
1️⃣Manchester City Update
Manchester City are on the cusp of being the first English team to win four EPL titles in a row, and if they could cap that off by retaining their UCL title, then it would be another highly successful year for them. If they do manage to make it past the most successful team in Champions League history, then it is hard to see any of the remaining teams in the competition stopping them from claiming more European glory.
Man City were in a group with RB Leipzig, Young Boys, and Crvena Zvezda and they won all six of their matches to top the group quite comfortably. They averaged three goals a game while conceding 1.17 per game. They took on Copenhagen in the Round of 16 and won 6-2 on aggregate. Below are their previous five results in all competitions:

Guardiola has only one player missing for this big match against Real Madrid, and you can see who this is in the following table:

2️⃣Real Madrid Update
At one point it looked like Real Madrid were going to go another season without landing the La Liga title, but they found their form at the turn of the new year and are all but set to lift their 36th domestic league trophy.
Los Blancos were in a UCL group with Napoli, Braga, and Union Berlin and, like Manchester City, they won all six of their matches, scoring 16 and conceding seven along the way. They played RB Leipzig in the Round of 16 and came out on top thanks to a 2-1 aggregate score. Below you can find their result from their last five games in all competitions:
