Real Madrid will welcome RB Leipzig to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on the 6th of March for the second leg of their Round of 16 Champions League tie. Real won the first leg 1-0 and were lucky to not concede, so there is all to play for in this match, and Leipzig will know that they can give their opponents a good game. Will the Spanish giants book themselves a spot in the last eight, or will the Germans make it to the Quarter-finals of the UCL for the first time in four seasons? Read my prediction to find out my views.
🏆 Real Madrid vs RB Leipzig: Who Will Win?
Not too long ago, it looked like Real Madrid could lose out on another La Liga title to Girona, who had occupied top spot for most of the season. However, they have fallen off the pace, and Real have pounced to take a five point advantage over Barcelona at the top of the table. From their previous ten matches in La Liga, they have picked up 7 wins and 3 draws, averaging 2 goals per match while conceding just 0.70 goals.
RB Leipzig are not in with a shout of winning the Bundesliga title as they are a full 21 points behind Bayer Leverkusen, who have been brilliant this year. Instead, they are battling it out with Borussia Dortmund for the 4th and final UCL spot, and it should be a fascinating battle between now and the end of the season. They had been in some good form of late, picking up 7 points from their last three matches ahead of their weekend game against Bayern Munich - they will be disappointed to have lost that one to a late Harry Kane goal.
Leipzig competed well with Real Madrid at the Red Bull Arena, and I think they will cause a number of issues for their Spanish opponents in this match. However, Los Blancos are a different animal in this competition, and I can see them coming out on top again. I am going to back Real to win 2-1 and claim a 3-1 aggregate win.
My Prediction: 🏆 Real Madrid 2 RB Leipzig 1 ⚽

Real Madrid vs RB Leipzig: Both Teams To Score Odds
Sometimes the bookies are adamant that a particular outcome is going to happen, and in this case they are pretty certain that both teams will be able to find the back of the net. I agree with them here, and you will find out my reasons for doing so in the next section of this betting guide. For now, just concern yourself with the odds that my selected bookies are offering:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.49 | 1.49 | 1.55 | 1.52 | 1.58 |
No | 2.32 | 2.32 | 2.30 | 2.28 | 2.28 |
Real Madrid vs RB Leipzig: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
The bookies are also pretty adamant that there will be at least three goals scored in this match, and this is another thing that I happen to agree with. Once again, I will explain why a little later on in this prediction. For now, I am going to provide you with the over/under 2.5 goals odds that my favourite bookies are currently offering:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over | 1.45 | 1.45 | 1.50 | 1.47 | 1.50 |

✔️ Real Madrid vs RB Leipzig - Betting Tips
Now that you know the odds that some top bookies are offering for three very popular football betting markets, I am now going to take the time to give you some of my betting advice for this Real Madrid vs RB Leipzig match.
- Tip 1: Bet on Real to win: Los Blancos topped their UCL group with consummate ease, winning all six of their matches, so they would have been the team that everyone else wanted to avoid. RB Leipzig were the unlucky team to be drawn against them, but they showed quite a bit of quality in the first leg. Real Madrid are just a cut above when it comes to the UCL though, their current good form should see them win and book themselves a spot in the last eight. You can find odds of 1.55 for a Real win at 10Bet Sport.
- Tip 2: Bet on BTTS: RB Leipzig have scored in all but one of their last ten league matches, while Real Madrid have scored in all of their previous ten matches. So, as we can see, neither team are having any difficulties finding the back of the net this season. Furthermore, another reason why I am backing BTTS is the fact that both teams have found the back of the net in 100% of RB Leipzig's away UCL matches. Those who want to back BTTS can find odds of 1.58 on offer at Fun Casino Sports.
- Tip 3: Bet on over 2.5 goals: Real Madrid are averaging 2.5 goals per match over their previous ten games, while RB Leipzig are averaging 1.8 goals per game over their last 10 Bundesliga matches. Also, 67% of Real's home UCL matches have seen at least three goals, while all of Leipzig's away Champions League games this season have seen at least three goals. So, I think you can see why I am backing there to be at least three goals scored in this game. If you agree and want to back over 2.5 goals, then you can find odds of 1.50 at Fun Casino Sports.
- Tip 4: Bet on Real Madrid to win 2-1: Los Blancos should have too much firepower for their German opponents in this match, but I can see Leipzig giving Real a game and scoring at least once. I think it will finish 2-1 in Real's favour, and Betiton Sport are currently offering odds of 7.55 for this outcome.
N.B. One final tip that I must give you is perhaps the most important of all, and this is to always remember to gamble responsibly. Never gamble with money that you cannot afford to potentially lose and stop when the fun stops.
1️⃣Real Madrid Update
Real Madrid look like they are going to pick up their 36th La Liga title come May as they have a 5 point cushion over Barcelona. They have been in great form as of late too, picking up 24 points from the previous 30 that have been on offer - this has included seven wins and three draws. Some of their more impressive results in recent times include a 4-0 over Girona and a 4-1 win against Villareal.
When it comes to the Champions League, we need to keep in mind the amazing record that Los Blancos have in this competition. They have a total of 14 titles, which is 7 more than AC Milan, who are currently in second place. You can never write Real Madrid out of the Champions League until they are officially out.
Below you can find their previous five results at the time of writing this prediction:

Real Madrid1 Atletico Madrid1 | 04.02.24 La Liga |

Carlo Ancelotti will be missing a handful of players for this second leg against RB Leipzig, but he should still have enough quality at his disposal to make it through to the next round. Below you can find Real Madrid's absentees at the time of writing:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Jude Bellingham | Ankle Injury |
David Alaba | Cruciate Ligament Injury |
Thibaut Courtois | Knee Injury |
Eder Militao | Cruciate ligament Injury |
2️⃣ RB Leipzig Update
RB Leipzig have gone off the boil a little bit lately, and are sitting in 9th place in the Bundesliga form table over the last ten rounds of matches. They have piked up 14 points from the last 30 that have been on offer and are now in 5th place in the league table as a result. They will be disappointed to have conceded late against Bayern Munich on Saturday, but their performance against the German giants will give them some confidence heading into this clash with Real Madrid.
They will need to put on a perfect display of football if they are to overturn the one goal deficit and knock Real Madrid out of the UCL at the Round of 16 stage for the first time since the 2019/20 season. While I can see them causing Los Blancos some issues across the 90 minutes, I just see them putting in a strong enough performance to come out on top in the tie.
Below are the previous five matches that RB Leipzig have played:
Last 5 Games | |
---|---|
Bayern Munich2 RB Leipzig1 | 24.02.24 Bundesliga |
RB Leipzig2 Borussia Monchengladbach0 | 17.02.24 Bundesliga |

Quique Sánchez Flores has a whole host of injuries that he will need to contend with ahead of this big Champions League match, and you can see their current missing players in the following table:
