When the draw was carried out for the Champions League quarter-finals, the match that drew the most attention was Real Madrid vs Manchester City. The reigning UCL champions will be taking on the 14-time-winners on the 9th of April at 20:00 GMT at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. This match really would have been a fitting final for the 2023/24 UCL edition, but one of these top teams will be eliminated in the last eight this time around. Who will gain the upper hand ahead of the return leg at the Etihad? Well, read on and find out all of my views.
🏆 Real Madrid vs Manchester City: Who Will Win?
At one stage in the 2023/24 La Liga season, it had looked like Girona were going to cause a big upset and claim the title but Real Madrid have come roaring back and they now hold an eight-point lead over Barcelona. They are the top scorers in La Liga, averaging 2.20 goals per game, while they can also boast of having the tightest defence, conceding just 0.66 goals per game. They won all six of their UCL Group Stage matches and then beat RB Leipzig 2-1 on aggregate in the Round of 16.
Manchester City had a little blip in the EPL in December, but they have since gotten that out of their system and are now back on track to try and retain the title that they won last season. They are currently sitting in third place in the table, and it seems that the title race is going to go down to the wire. Like Real Madrid, Man City also won all of their matches in the UCL group stage, scoring 18 and conceding just 7. They played Copenhagen in the Round of 16 and won easily with a 6-2 aggregate scoreline.
This is a very tough match to call and neither team will want to make a mistake in the first leg that could end up costing them in the second. Thus, with this in mind, I am going to predict that this match will end in a stalemate. As for the scoreline, I will go for a 1-1, leaving everything to play for at the Etihad.
My Prediction: 🏆Real Madrid 1 Manchester City 1 ⚽
💯 Real Madrid vs Manchester City Match Odds
Football has become such a popular sport among bettors due to the fact that there are so many markets that can be bet on. Three of the most popular football markets out there include the match winner, both teams to score, and over/under 2.5 goals, and these are the ones that I will focus on in relation to this Real Madrid vs Manchester City match. You will be able to find the odds that my favourite established and new UK betting sites are currently offering.
If you would like to find out more about any of the following bookmakers, then you can do so by heading over to our bookmaker reviews page. All of our reviews have been written by our experts, so you will find all that you need to know.
🏅 Real Madrid vs Manchester City: Match Winner Odds
Manchester City have played Real Madrid a total of 10 times in their history, and City have won four, drawn three, and lost three. They played against each other in last year's Champions League, and City walked away with a 5-1 aggregate win after destroying Real 4-0 at the Etihad.
This previous result will definitely have played a part in the current match winner odds, which sees the bookies have Manchester City as the slight favourites to go on and win this first leg. However, the odds are higher than 2.00, which tells us that they would not be surprised if Real Madrid went on to win the match. What the match winner odds below tell us is that this is a game that could go any way, which offers plenty of betting value.
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Real Madrid | 2.65 | 2.65 | 2.75 | 2.80 | 2.90 |
Draw | 3.35 | 3.35 | 3.55 | 3.40 | 3.55 |
Manchester City | 2.34 | 2.34 | 2.45 | 2.23 | 2.30 |
⚽ Real Madrid vs Manchester City: Both Teams To Score Odds
The bookmakers might be unsure about the match winners, but one thing that they are pretty certain about is that both Real Madrid and Manchester City will score. As I have shown in my aforementioned scoreline, I also think both teams will find the back of the net - I will explain more in the following betting tips section. For now, all that you need to concern yourself with is the both teams to score odds below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.58 | 1.58 | 1.62 | 1.60 | 1.64 |
No | 2.14 | 2.14 | 2.15 | 2.07 | 2.16 |
🥅 Real Madrid vs Manchester City: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
The bookies believe that there will be a maximum of three goals scored in this match, which means that they think the most likely outcome is for Real or City to win the match by a 2-1 scoreline. Despite the attacking talent that will be on display, I actually think that both teams will cancel each other out in this first leg and that they will need to set for a draw. Below you can find the over/under 2.5 goals odds:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.66 | 1.66 | 1.70 | 1.63 | 1.67 |
Under 2.5 | 2.01 | 2.01 | 2.10 | 2.05 | 2.10 |
✔️ Real Madrid vs Manchester City - Betting Tips
Whether you are using free bets or your own money to bet on big football matches like this one, then you should do yourself a solid and have a read of some top betting tips before you finalise any wagers. The more knowledge that you have, the greater the chances of you landing a solid bet. Although, obviously, winning can never be guaranteed when sports betting.
Thus, with this in mind, in this part of my betting guide, I will give you four tips for this Real Madrid vs Manchester City match.
- Tip 1: Bet on a draw: These are two of the best teams in the world, so many punters will probably be expecting it to be a free-flowing affair with plenty of goalmouth action. However, this is not how such matches usually play out - they can be pretty cagey affairs at times. I think these two teams will cancel each other out and will be more than happy to settle on a draw ahead of the return leg in England. If you think this game will end in a draw, then 10BET Sports are offering odds of 3.55.
- Tip 2: Bet on both teams to score: With the attacking talent that both of these teams have at their disposal, I would be surprised if both teams did not manage to find the back of the net in this game. They have both been scoring goals for fun this season, so I am backing them both to do so in this match. If you agree with this, then you can find odds of 1.64 at BetUK Sports.
- Tip 3: Bet on under 2.5 goals: If you are expecting this match to be a feast of goals, then you might just end up being a little bit disappointed. While both teams have quality attackers at their disposal, we cannot forget that they both also have some top defenders that they can call upon. While I think both defences will be breached, I can see there being just the two goals in this match as both teams will be eager not to give too much to their opponents. If you want to back the under 2.5 goals market, then BetUK Sports are offering odds of 2.10.
- Tip 4: Bet on a 1-1 scoreline: If you are the kind of person who likes to try and predict the correct scoreline of a match due to the enticing odds that are usually on offer, then I suggest that you opt for a 1-1 scoreline. If you agree with me, then Betiton Sport are currently offering odds of 6.20 for this to be the final score.
N.B. When you are betting on any sporting event, make sure that you ensure that you gamble responsibly. Set up a budget with an amount that you can afford to potentially lose. Do not chase your losses because this can lead to more financial stress.
1️⃣Real Madrid Update
It had started to look like Real Madrid were going to fall away from challenging for the La Liga title, but they got their act together and are now sitting pretty at the top of the table. With just eight games left of the season, it will take something special from either Barcelona or Girona to overtake them and claim the title. They have scored the most goals in the league and conceded the fewest, so they deserve to be at the top of the tree.
From the last ten matches that they have played in La Liga, they have won seven, drawn three, and lost zero. In this time, they have averaged 2.30 goals per match while conceding just 0.70. You can see their previous five La Liga results in the table below:

2️⃣Manchester City Update
We are entering the last stretch of the 2023/24 EPL season, and any of Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City can still go on to win the title. This might end up being one of the most interesting title races in the Premier League for several seasons. City will be focusing more on the Champions League though because retaining their title will trump any league triumph. City are currently scoring an average of 2.17 goals per game while conceding 0.97.
They are sitting in third place in the English Premier League form table, having picked up 24 points from the previous 30 that have been on offer. You can see their previous five EPL results in the table that follows:
Last 5 Premier League Games | |

Guardiola has just the three injury concerns at the moment, but it would not even matter if they had more since they have quality replacements in all positions. You can see the missing Manchester City players below:

Ederson | Thigh Injury |
Nathan Ake | Calf Injury |
