Real Madrid get the defence of their UEFA Champions League title up and running against VFB Stuttgart of the Bundesliga on Tuesday 17th September at the iconic Bernabeu in Madrid. The 15 times champions of Europe are now armed with Kylian Mbappe in their attack but face into their first season since 2013/2014 without Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement in May. Madrid have kicked off the 2024/25 season with two wins and two draws in four League games as well as adding their sixth European Super Cup by beating Atalanta 2-0 in this year’s edition. VFB Stuttgart qualified for this year’s Champions League by finishing in 2nd place behind undefeated champions Leverkusen. This season has not started as well as that however and they sit in 14th place in the Bundesliga after a defeat and a draw in their opening two League games.
🏆 Real Madrid vs VFB Stuttgart CL Prediction – 17/09/2024
At this stage of our betting guide, I will provide you with my Real Madrid vs Stuttgart prediction. Madrid have played 5 games so far in the 2024/25 season winning 3 of them and drawing the other 2. They have scored 9 goals in those 5 games, conceding 2. Stuttgart have struggled somewhat after what was such a brilliant campaign for them last season. They have lost on penalties to Leverkusen in the German Super cup and have lost 3-1 to Freiburg and drawn 3-3 with Mainz so far in the Bundesliga, but they did at least claim a 5-0 win over SC Munster in the DFB-Pokal. Stuttgart have had a huge turnover of players from last season which might explain their somewhat slow start, but unfortunately it doesn’t get any easier, with potentially the toughest away game in football awaiting them on Tuesday night. The Germans should be no match for the mighty Madrid, and I can only see a comfortable victory for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
My Prediction: 🏆 Real Madrid vs VFB Stuttgart 3 - 0 ⚽
💯 Real Madrid vs VFB Stuttgart Football Event Odds
When it comes to football betting the most common bets are match bets, both teams to score bets and betting on the over and under markets. Below I have listed the Real Madrid vs Stuttgart betting odds for each with some of the best betting sites.
🏅 Real Madrid vs VFB Stuttgart : Match Winner
The match winner bet is arguably the most popular bet with punters because of how easy it is to navigate. All you must do is simply pick who you think will win between Real Madrid and Stuttgart. Madrid are heavy favourites with bookmakers and it’s easy to see why given the profile and achievements of both clubs.
Real Madrid to Win | 1.26 | 1.25 | 1.27 |
VFB Stuttgart to Win | 8.80 | 8.85 | 8.50 |
Draw | 6.00 | 6.05 | 6.00 |
⚽ Real Madrid vs VFB Stuttgart: Both Teams To Score
Both teams have scored in 3 out of Stuttgart’s 5 matches so far this season while both sides have found the back of the net on 2 occasions during Madrid’s 5 matches to date. I’m not sure that Stuttgart will find the back of the net against Madrid at the Bernabeu however so I will suggest having a bet on both teams not scoring. The odds on this market are listed below.
Yes | 1.75 | 1.68 | 1.66 |
No | 2.08 | 2.07 | 2.10 |
🥅 Real Madrid vs VFB Stuttgart Odds: Over/Under 2.5 Goals
With this bet you are betting on whether you think the total goals scored in the match will be more or less than 2.5. The bookmakers below expect there to be more than 2.5 goals scored in the game and I agree.
Over 2.5 Goals | 1.38 | 1.33 | 1.33 |
Under 2.5 Goals | 3.05 | 3.01 | 3.00 |

- Tip 1 – Madrid to win: The match winner bet is arguably the most popular bet with punters because of how easy it is to navigate. All you must do is simply pick who you think will win between Real Madrid and Stuttgart. Madrid are heavy favourites with bookmakers and it’s easy to see why given the profile and achievements of both clubs. A Real Madrid win is currently priced at 1.25.
- Tip 2 – Over 2.5 goals: I would expect Madrid to take care of the over 2.5 goals market themselves with a comfortable victory over Stuttgart at the Bernabeu. Carlo Ancelotti’s side should have the firepower to comfortably take care of Stuttgart in front of an expectant crowd at home. No Bonus Sports are offering odds of 1.33.
- Tip 3 – Real Madrid to score in both halves: Real Madrid should be the dominant force during this Matchday 1 clash against Stuttgart and I would expect them to exert this dominance over their Bundesliga opponents in both halves. If you fancy having a bet on Madrid scoring in both halves myriadplay are currently offering odds of 1.62.

VFB Stuttgart Update
VFB Stuttgart were brilliant last season as they qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2009/10 season. The start to this year’ s campaign has been a bit trickier for them however as they have lost and drawn their first two league games as well as being beaten by Leverkusen in the Super Cup. They did have a DFB-Pokal victory over SC Munster, but they face a daunting prospect travelling to Madrid for their opening fixture in this year’s Champions League.
