The final Premier League match on Sunday is perhaps one of the biggest of the weekend as it sees title-chasing Arsenal take on Champions League-chasing Aston Villa at the Emirates. The game is scheduled to kick off at 16:30 GMT, so make sure that you have a couple of hours spare as this has all the makings of a very entertaining match. Will the points stay in London or will they head up the M6 and make their way to the Second City? Let us jump straight in and find out what I think is going to go down.
🏆 Arsenal vs Aston Villa: Who Will Win?
You have to go back to the 21st of February to find the last time that Arsenal lost a game of football - this was a close 1-0 defeat to Porto in the UEFA Champions League. Since then, they have won six and drawn two of the Premier League matches that they have played in. To say that they are a team in form would be a huge understatement. In their previous league match, they travelled down to Brighton and won 3-0 - The Seagulls had been undefeated in 12 home matches.
Aston Villa have had a wonderful season, but it has gone a little bit off the boil lately. This is quite understandable considering the number of injuries that they currently have to key players. Heading into the back end of the season, they are still battling it out for a Champions League spot and will qualify for the Europa Conference League semi-finals if they manage to avoid defeat in Lille. They were 2-0 up against Brentford in their last EPL game, but had to settle for a 3-3 draw - they cannot afford to be that lackadaisical against a rampant Arsenal.
Although I do believe that Villa will give Arsenal a good game, I can see nothing but a win for the home team since they are in top form at present. A defeat for Villa could put a serious dent in their Champions League chances, especially if Spurs beat Newcastle. I think Arsenal will win this match 3-1.
My Prediction: 🏆Arsenal 3 Aston Villa 1 ⚽
💯 Arsenal vs Aston Villa Match Odds
Arsenal played Aston Villa on the 9th of December, and Villa came away with all three points thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 win. The Gunners had the better of the chances throughout the match, but their profligacy in front of goal ended up costing them dearly. The only goal of the game was scored by John McGinn in the 7th minute. Arsenal thought they had earned a late point when Kai Havertz bundled the ball home, but it was ruled out, rightly so, for the use of an arm.
There will be plenty of bets placed on this upcoming fixture between the two teams, and you will be able to find plenty of markets and competitive odds at many established and new UK betting sites. Not all bookies have been created equally, so below I have given you the Arsenal vs Aston Villa match odds from five of my favourite betting sites.
🏅 Arsenal vs Aston Villa: Match Winner Odds
With the form that Arsenal are in and the players that they have at their disposal, it is little wonder that they are the big favourites for this match. However, I do think that the odds are a little bit harsh on Villa and that they have more of a chance of getting something from the match than the bookies are suggesting. Check out the match winner odds in the following table and make up your own mind on the matter:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Arsenal | 1.27 | 1.27 | 1.30 | 1.26 | 1.27 |
Draw | 5.90 | 5.90 | 6.00 | 6.00 | 6.00 |
Aston Villa | 9.20 | 9.20 | 10.00 | 10.00 | 10.00 |
⚽ Arsenal vs Aston Villa: Both Teams To Score Odds
In most Aston Villa matches this season, the bookmakers have been quite confident that they would find the back of the net. However, they are somewhat sitting on the fence this time, although they are slightly favouring the BTTS option. Arsenal's defence has been extremely solid this season, so their indecisiveness is understanding. If you like to try your luck with the BTTS market, then check out the odds below:
BTTS | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.84 | 1.84 | 1.80 | 1.81 | 1.87 |
No | 1.90 | 1.90 | 1.91 | 1.83 | 1.89 |
🥅 Arsenal vs Aston Villa: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
While the bookies are unsure as to whether both Arsenal and Aston Villa will score in this match, they are pretty certain that there will be over 2.5 goals scored in this match. They are also quite sure that there will be under 3.5 goals. These odds, alongside the ones that I provided above, tell us that the bookmakers believe that Arsenal will win this match either by a 2-1 scoreline or a 3-0 scoreline. Check out the over/under 2.5 goals odds below:
Over/Under 2.5 Goals | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.44 | 1.44 | 1.48 | 1.42 | 1.44 |
Under 2.5 | 2.60 | 2.60 | 2.65 | 2.60 | 2.63 |
✔️ Arsenal vs Aston Villa - Betting Tips
Before you bet on this match using your own money or a free bet, do yourself a big favour and check out my Arsenal vs Aston Villa betting tips. You might just find something that you really like the look of.
- Tip 1: Bet on Arsenal to win: The Gunners' form at home this season has been really good as can be seen from the fact that they have only lost one match. From the 45 available points, they have managed to pick up 38 of them. Villa do have the 4th best away record in the league with 25 points out of a possible 48, but they have lost eight of their previous ten away matches against Arsenal. Those who want to back an Arsenal win can find odds of 1.30 at 10Bet.
- Tip 2: Bet on BTTS: The bookies are basically sitting on the fence when it comes to the BTTS market for this match, but I think Aston Villa have the attacking players to cause the Arsenal defence a range of issues. Arsenal have only conceded 24 goals the whole season, but both teams have scored in 22 of Villa's 32 matches this campaign. If you think that Villa will be able to breach Arsenal's tight defence, then you can find odds of 1.87 available at BetUK Sports.
- Tip 3: Bet on Ollie Watkins to score: The Villa forward is in the form of his life at the moment, scoring his 25th goal of the season in Villa's 2-1 win over Lille on Thursday evening. In the EPL, he has 18 goals from 31 appearances, which is a tally that can only be bettered by Erling Haaland. He has caused Arsenal several issues in the past, and I can see him being a pain in the neck for their defenders. If you want to back him to score, then LeoVegas Sports are offering odds of 3.95 for him to find the back of the net.
- Tip 4: Bet on a 3-1 Arsenal win: While I do think Aston Villa will give the Gunners a number of issues, I think that the home team's quality and form will come to the fore in the end. Villa have been a bit sloppy defensively as of late, so I would not be surprised if they conceded three goals. However, Unai Emery's men have the quality to score, and I think they will. If you want to bet on 3-1, then Betiton Sport are offering odds of 9.25

1️⃣Arsenal Update
Heading into last weekend, the ball was in Liverpool's court as they knew that they would be crowned Champions if they won all of their remaining matches. However, despite being called "mentality monster", Klopp's men blew it at the first time of asking by drawing 2-2 with Manchester United. Thus, heading into this weekend, the ball is in Arsenal's court as winning all of their remaining matches should see them go on and claim their first EPL title in years.
With the form that they have been showing, I would not put it past them to go on and lift the title this season. From the previous 30 points that have been on offer in the last ten games, they have managed to pick up 28 - their only dropped points came in a boring 0-0 draw with Manchester City. During this time, they have averaged 3.30 goals per match while conceding just 0.40. You can see their five previous league results below:

Arteta can count his lucky stars when it comes to the treatment room as he only has one player missing at present for this clash with Villa. You can see who that is in the following table:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Jurrien Timber | Knee Injury |
2️⃣Aston Villa Update
If, at the beginning of the season, you had offered Villa fifth place in the EPL table and a draw/win away from a spot in the Conference League final come April they would have taken the offer without a second thought. Unai Emery has done wonders with this team, and they can be proud of their season even if they do end up just missing out on a spot in next season's Champions League. If they recruit wisely in the summer, then there is no reason why they cannot have another assault on the top four during the 2023/24 campaign. It is an exciting time to be a Villa supporter.
They are sitting in 7th place in the form table, having picked up five wins, two draws, and three defeats in their previous ten matches. During this time, they have averaged 2.20 goals per match while conceding 1.90. For me, they are conceding too many, but injuries are not helping the cause. Check out their five last EPL results below:
Last 5 Premier League Games | |
---|---|
Aston Villa3 Brentford3 | 06.04.24 |

Emery, even though pundits like to brush it under the proverbial carpet, have had plenty of injury issues to deal with all throughout the season. This makes their position in the league an even bigger achievement. You can see their absentees in the table below:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Boubacar Kamara | Knee Injury |
Emi Buendia | Knee Injury |
Tyrone Mings | Knee Injury |
Jacob Ramsey | Ankle Injury |
Matty Cash | Thigh Injury |
Kortney Hause | Knee Injury |
