Newcastle vs Nottingham

Newcastle might have had more injuries than you can shake that proverbial stick at and are completely out of Europe, but I would still say that they are having a pretty solid season. They are 6th in the EPL and are definitely in contention for another European spot this season. Only Manchester City and Aston Villa have scored more goals than them this season, which is impressive considering their lengthy injury list.

Nottingham Forest are at the bottom of the form table and have just sacked Steve Cooper. I do not think that they will go down, but they will definitely be in a relegation fight as they struggle to find the back of the net. They are averaging just the one goal per match.

For me, this has a Newcastle win all over it.

Bournemouth vs Fulham

People were questioning whether Bournemouth could get relegated this season, but their form has picked up considerably, and they should comfortably finish above the drop zone. They are actually 5th in the form table over the last six matches, winning four and drawing once. This run includes a 3-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford and a home win against Newcastle.

Fulham are currently sitting two points above Bournemouth in the table in 11th, and they have been one of the most entertaining teams to watch lately. They are scoring for fun and conceding quite a few to boot. They do not need to fear relegation this season, so can continue to play this free-flowing and risky football.

This is not an easy match to call, but I am giving the win to Bournemouth due to their home advantage.

Sheffield United vs Luton

Some games are attractive to neutrals, but this is not one of them. Sheffield United are sitting firmly in the Relegation Zone, and things are looking bleak for them this season. Their major issue is that they cannot score goals and are extremely leaky at the back. At the time of writing, they had scored just 13 goals and conceded 43 in 17 matches.

Luton are also in dire straights and are currently sitting just one point about the Blades in the table. They have also struggled to score goals and are conceding for fun, so they will probably join Sheffield in the Championship next season. Their football has improved lately, but they are not picking up important points.

My prediction for this match is a draw.

Burnley vs Liverpool

Burnley are the other team that are sitting in the Relegation Zone, and many fans and pundits have condemned them to the Championship already. Like Luton and Sheffield, they are sitting at the foot of the table due to their inability to score goals and the fact that they cannot stop the opposition from scoring. From their previous 6 games, they have picked up just 4 points, which is relegation form.

Liverpool are at the other end of the table and are just one point adrift of Arsenal in first place. They are averaging just over two goals per game and are conceding under one goal per match. This does not bode well for Burnley - if you are a Burnley fan, it might be better to take your dog out for a walk instead of watching this.

It would be a huge surprise if Liverpool did not pick up all three points.

Manchester United vs Aston Villa

Manchester United have been getting a lot of stick this season, but I do not think things have been all that bad. They are currently 7th in the table, just six points off of Manchester City, who occupy 4th. They have not been playing great football, but they have been picking up points, which is the main thing. At the time of writing, they had picked up 10 points from the last 18 on offer.

Aston Villa have been the surprise package of the EPL this season - they are currently level on points with Liverpool and could be top at Christmas, depending on their Matchday 18 result. They are the second top scorers in the league, so will fancy their chances of getting a couple of goals against United. I do not see them keeping a clean sheet as they seem to always concede away from home.

I am sure there will be over 2.5 goals in this match.

Brentford vs Wolves

Brentford are currently on 19 points from the 17 matches that they have played, and they do not need to threat about relegation this season. When Ivan Toney comes back in January, I can see them climbing the table. Their form is not great at the moment though as they have only beaten Luton in their previous six matches. They have been struggling to find the back of the net as of late.

Wolves are on the same number of points, and the best that they can hope for this season is mid-table mediocrity. Their form is slightly better than Brentford's as they have 7 points from the last 18 on offer. Like Brentford, they do not score many goals.

Brentford are always tricky at home, while Wolves have lost their last four away matches. So, I am backing Brentford.

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace

For the amount of money that Chelsea have spent, 10th place in the EPL is definitely not acceptable. They have won just the 6 games all season, and are probably already out of the reckoning for a European spot. They seem to be finding their shooting boots and are averaging just under 2 goals per match.

Crystal Palace are in 15th place, just 8 points above the Relegation Zone. Luckily for them, they should be pretty safe this season thanks to the lack of quality below them. They also showed against Man City that they can pick up points against the best. Their issue is scoring as they average just 1 goal a match, and are currently second-bottom in the form table.

Both teams should score in this match.

Everton vs Manchester City

Everton suffered a 10-point deduction and were firmly in the Relegation Zone, but five wins out of their last six have seen them climb 7 points above the drop. During this run, they have scored just under 2 goals per match and conceded less than 1. Sean Dyche has got them playing some good football, and they would be in the top half were it not for their points deduction.

When it comes to recent form, City are in the bottom half of the table, thanks to four draws, a win, and a loss in their last six matches. They are conceding two goals a match, which is poor for a team of their quality. However, we all know how good this City team can be on their day.

I have got to back City to win this one.

Brighton vs Tottenham

Brighton are having a bit of a mixed season, but I expect them to be challenging for a Europa Conference League or Europa League spot come the end of the season. They play some exciting football, and Roberto De Zerbi does not like them sitting back, no matter who they are playing. As a result, only a handful of teams have scored more than them this season.

Spurs currently occupy 5th spot and will be battling it out for a Champions League spot this year. Like Brighton, they also like to play on the front foot and have no issues when it comes to scoring goals. When these predictions were written, they had scored 35 goals in 17 matches. However, due to their exciting brand of football, they often leave themselves open and vulnerable to counterattacks.

There should be goals in this match, so I am backing both teams to score.

Arsenal vs West Ham

Heading into Christmas weekend, Arsenal are sitting at the top of the EPL, although they might not be top on Christmas Day, depending on the Matchday 18 results. They have lost just once in their previous 6 matches, scoring 12 goals and conceding just the six in that time. For me, they have the second-best squad in the league and will be challenging for the title come May.

West Ham are eighth in the league and firmly in the hunt for European football, and they are the 6th best team when it comes to recent form. They have lost just one game in their last six, which include a 2-1 win over local London rivals, Tottenham. They will be confident of being able to pick up a positive result against Arsenal.

Arsenal have won 9 and drawn 1 of their last 10 home matches, while West Ham have lost 5 of their last 10 away games. So, my money is on Arsenal.
