Some teams at this stage in the Premier League season are battling for the title, a spot in Europe, or to stay in the league, and both Brentford and Sheffield United fit firmly into the latter category -although, I must say that I think Sheffield United are done for as they would need nothing short of a miracle to book themselves one more season in the top flight of English football. I reckon Brentford need just two more wins to remain in the league, but do I think that they will get it against the Blades on Saturday? Read on to find out my views.
🏆 Brentford vs Sheffield United: Who Will Win?
Brentford looked like they were going to succumb to a heavy defeat against Aston Villa at the weekend after going 2-0 down with 46 minutes on the clock. However, they showed that fighting spirit that they are known for, scoring three goals in the space of just nine minutes. They did not manage to hold on to all three points, but they would have been happy with a point at Villa Park, especially when things had looked so bleak.
Sheffield United are all but relegated as they need three wins just to equally the points tally that Nottingham Forest have in 17th place. They probably need to win six of their remaining seven matches to stand any chance of survival, and they have only managed to pick up three wins all season. They will keep fighting for the badge as Chris Wilder will not allow them to down tools, but they will be playing in the Championship next season.
The Blades have drawn three of their previous four matches, while Brentford have picked up three draws in a row. Due to this, I was tempted to back a draw in this match, but I think Brentford will win a close match by a 2-1 scoreline.
My Prediction: 🏆Brentford 2 Sheffield United 1 ⚽
💯 Brentford vs Sheffield United Match Odds
Sheffield United won 1-0 when these two teams played against each other last December at Bramall Lane. This means that the Bees could have the ignominy of the Blades doing the double over them this season. It was a very even match which could have gone either way, but James McAtee's goal on the stroke of half-time was enough for the home side to claim a vital three points.
The EPL is one of the most popular leagues in the world, so all of the top new UK betting sites and established ones will have plenty of betting options available. Below you will find five top-quality bookies and the odds they offer for the match winner, both teams to score, and over/under 2.5 goals.
🏅 Brentford vs Sheffield United: Match Winner Odds
Given that Sheffield United are sitting right at the bottom of the table with just three wins to their name, it is not surprising to see that the top bookies have the Bees as the clear favourites to win this one. From the odds that they have given, it is clear that they think that it will be somewhat of a miracle if the Blades were to get even a draw out of this match. Below you can see the current match winner odds:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Brentford | 1.38 | 1.38 | 1.42 | 1.40 | 1.41 |
Draw | 4.80 | 4.80 | 4.75 | 5.00 | 5.10 |
Sheffield United | 6.35 | 6.35 | 6.50 | 6.75 | 7.00 |
⚽ Brentford vs Sheffield United: Both Teams To Score Odds
The Blades have not exactly been sharp in attack this season, pardon the pun, but the bookies are still backing them to find the back of the net against Brentford. As you can see from my earlier score prediction, I think the same, and I will explain why a little bit later on. For now, just take the time to check out the BTTS odds in the following table:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.64 | 1.64 | 1.65 | 1.64 | 1.70 |
No | 2.08 | 2.08 | 2.10 | 2.04 | 2.10 |
🥅 Brentford vs Sheffield United: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
Since these five bookies have both teams to score and think that Brentford will win the match, it stands to reason that they also believe that there will be over 2.5 goals scored in this game. In fact, from the odds that they are offering for the match winner, BTTS, and over/under 2.5 goals markets, we can deduce that they are backing a 2-1 win for the Bees. Check out the odds below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.47 | 1.47 | 1.50 | 1.45 | 1.48 |
Under 2.5 | 2.44 | 2.44 | 2.55 | 2.45 | 2.50 |
✔️ Brentford vs Sheffield United - Betting Tips
I am now going to give you some of my top Brentford vs Sheffield United betting tips, and I suggest that you do not just skim past this section. You never know, you might find something of great use that you can put your money or free bets on as I have been following the Premier League for many years now. So, let's dive in:
- Tip 1: Bet on Brentford to win: With the number of draws that these two teams have been getting lately, I know you might be tempted to opt for a stalemate. However, I really like Brentford's attacking line, and I think their pace and skill will cause the Sheffield defence a whole host of problems. We saw against Villa what they can do when they are in the groove, and their attacking prowess should see them earn all three points. You can find odds of 1.42 at 10Bet Sport.
- Tip 2: Bet on both teams to score: The Bees have kept two clean sheets in their previous ten games, while the Blades have kept none. This tells us that neither are that great at defending, leading to a high probability of both teams scoring on Saturday. Furthermore, both teams have scored in 81% of the league matches that have been played at the Gtech Community Stadium this season. Sheffield have also scored in 60% of their away matches this season. If you want to back BTTS, then BetUK Sports are offering odds of 1.70.
- Tip 3: Bet on Bryan Mbeumo to score: The Cameroonian international missed 13 matches due to an ankle injury, but he is fit again and raring to make good use of the rest of the season. He got his first start since his injury against Villa, and he was a constant thorn in their side due to his pace. He got on the score sheet, and I fancy him to do so once again. If you want to back him to score, then LeoVegas are offering odds of 2.40.
- Tip 4: Bet on Brentford to win 2-1:: Sheffield are not playing too badly lately, so I think this could end up being a close match. However, I cannot see the Blades coping with the likes of Toney, Wissa, and Mbuemo. I do think they will do enough to breach Brentford's defence, but it will not be enough to prevent another loss. Those who want to back a 2-1 scoreline can do so with odds of 7.60 at Betiton Sport.
N.B. Always remember to gamble responsibly when betting on any sport.
1️⃣Brentford Update
Brentford are sitting in 15th place in the EPL table with 29 points from the 32 matches that they have played. This has been Thomas Frank's hardest season since the Bees got promoted to the Premier League, but he will know that two more wins from their remaining six matches should be enough to keep them in the division. They will need to sure up their defence for the 2024/25 campaign though as only the bottom three have conceded more than them to date.
They are sitting in 17th place in the form table with seven points from the last ten matches that they have played - one win, four draws, and five losses. Below you can see details of their previous five league games:
Last 5 Premier League Games | |
---|---|
Aston Villa3 Brentford3 | 06.04.24 |
Brentford0 Brighton0 | 03.03.24 |
Brentford1 Manchester United1 | 30.03.24 |
Burnley2 Brentford1 | 16.03.24 |
Arsenal2 Brentford1 | 09.03.24 |
Frank only has a small squad at his disposal, so he will be hindered more than other managers would by the seven players that he currently has unavailable for selection.
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Christian Norgaard | Back Injury |
Kevin Schade | Muscle Injury |
Ben Mee | Ankle Injury |
Ethan Pinnock | Ankle Injury |
Aaron Hickey | Hamstring Strain |
Rico Henry | Knee Injury |
Josh Dasilva | Knee Injury |
2️⃣Sheffield United Update
Sheffield United did not spend an awful lot of money when they earned promotion to the EPL at the end of last season, and everyone predicted that they would go right back down. These predictions have all but come to pass as they have, in all honesty, stunk out the Premier League. To have just three wins at this stage of the season is pretty embarrassing, there are no two ways about it.
Their fans can at least take some pleasure in the fact that they are not sitting at the bottom of the EPL form table - they are sitting in 19th place, having picked up one win, three draws, and six losses from their previous ten games. You can see the results of their last five below:
Last 5 Premier League Games | |
---|---|
Sheffield United2 Chelsea2 | 07.04.24 |
Liverpool3 Sheffield United1 | 04.04.24 |
Sheffield United3 Fulham3 | 30.03.24 |
Bournemouth2 Sheffield United2 | 09.03.24 |
Sheffield United0 Arsenal6 | 04.03.24 |
Wilder has even more injuries to deal with than Frank, which is not helping his cause. However, I doubt they would have survived even if they went through the season with no injuries. Below are the missing players for this match against Brentford:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Max Lowe | Ankle Injury |
Rhys Norrington-Davies | Thigh Injury |
Chris Basham | Ankle Injury |
John Egan | Ankle Injury |
Rhian Brewster | Thigh Injury |
Daniel Jebbison | Fitness Issues |
George Baldock | Calf Injury |
Tom Davies | Unknown |
