There are not many English Premier League matches this weekend as six games have been cancelled, but one match that will be taking place is Burnley vs Brentford on Saturday the 16th of March at 15:00 GMT. Both of these teams are in a relegation battle, so they will be eager to pick up three points to avoid dropping into the Championship. Who will go on to win this big clash? Keep on reading and you will find out all of my views on this match.
🏆 Burnley vs Brentford: Who Will Win?
Burnley are sitting ten points adrift of safety, so they need to start picking up points now if they are to have any chance of avoiding the drop. They have picked up just three wins all season, and need to pick up around two points per match between now and the end of the 2023/24 season to a season in the Championship next year. They and Sheffield United are the two worst teams in the league, and things are looking very bleak for them.
Brentford are sitting five points above the relegation zone and will be nervously looking over their shoulders at the drop zone. They have picked up just 26 points from the 28 matches that they have played, and their main issue this season is the fact that they have been conceding far too many goals - they have conceded 1.86 goals per match, with only Luton, Sheffield, and Burnley having conceded more goals.
When these two teams met at the Gtech Community Stadium in October of last year, the Bees came out on top with a very comfortable 3-0 win. They completely dominated that match, restricting Burnley to just the one shot on target while they had 10 shots on target themselves. This was Brentford's first home win of the campaign, with goals from Wissa, Mbuemo, and Ghoddos.
This will be a tense match due to what is at stake and there could be plenty of errors by both teams. However, this tenseness is what I think will make this an entertaining game for neutrals to watch. If you support either of your teams, then good luck with your nerves. I think Brentford will go on and claim the three points that are on offer with a 2-1 win.
My Prediction: 🏆 Burnley 1 Brentford 2 ⚽
💯 Burnley vs Brentford Match Odds
Established and new UK betting sites will consider this previous result alongside their current form when coming up with the odds for this Burnley vs Brentford clash. Below you can find the odds that five of my favourite bookies are offering for three popular markets: match winner, over/under 2.5 goals, and both teams to score.
🏅Burnley vs Brentford: Match Winner Odds
The bookmakers have Brentford as the favourites to go on and win this match, but the odds that they are offering for a Brentford win tell us that they are not entirely sure that the Bees will go on and win the game. I am pretty sure that Brentford will win, so there is plenty of value to be had with this outcome. Below are the match winner odds for this Burnley vs Brentford game:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Burnley | 3.10 | 3.10 | 3.20 | 3.50 | 3.55 |
Draw | 3.60 | 3.60 | 3.65 | 3.50 | 3.50 |
Brentford | 2.05 | 2.05 | 2.10 | 2.06 | 2.07 |
Burnley vs Brentford: Both Teams To Score Odds
Do the bookies think that both sides will score in this match? They are pretty certain that both teams will find the back of the net, which can probably be put down to the fact that both teams have a pretty horrendous defensive record this season. Check out the BTTS odds in the table below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.55 | 1.55 | 1.57 | 1.62 | 1.68 |
No | 2.24 | 2.24 | 2.25 | 2.08 | 2.14 |
Burnley vs Brentford: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
The bookies are also pretty certain that three goals will be scored, but they are also pretty sure that there will be fewer than four goals scored in the game. These odds, plus the odds for the match winner and BTTS, tell us that they think that the most likely outcome of this game is a 2-1 win for Brentford. If you like betting on the over/under 2.5 goal market, then have a look at the odds below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.75 | 1.75 | 1.70 | 1.75 | 1.75 |
Under 2.5 | 1.98 | 1.98 | 2.10 | 1.97 | 1.98 |
✔️ Burnley vs Brentford - Betting Tips
If you learn how to find value bets, whether you are betting with your own money or free bets, then you can increase your sports betting enjoyment. You can find value by checking out tips that have been written by top football bettors, which is why I am now going to give you four top tips for this Burnley vs Brentford match.
- Tip 1: Bet on Brentford to win: The Bees have only picked up seven points from the last 30 that have been on offer, which is a very poor run of form. However, Burnley have been even worse over this period, picking up just three points from their previous ten games. Brentford might not be very good as of late, but they are still better than Burnley, and they will be confident of picking up a win at the weekend. If you want to back the Bees to win, then you can find odds of 2.10 at 10Bet Sport.
- Tip 2: Bet on both teams to score: In Brentford's last ten matches, both teams have found the back of the net a total of eight times, while both teams have scored in six of Burnley's previous 10 games. Another stat that leads me to predict that both teams will score in this game is the fact that this has been the outcome in 68% of the matches that Brentford have played this season. Those who want to back BTTS can find odds of odds of 1.68 available at BetUK Sports.
- Tip 3: Bet on Toney to score: One of the main reasons why Brentford have struggled for goals and points this season is the fact that Ivan Toney was serving an eight-month ban. He is now back in the fold, and they look a lot more dangerous with him up front. With Burnley's porous defence up next, he will be pretty confident of being able to find the back of the net. Those who want to back Toney to score can find odds of 2.30 at Mr. Mega Sport.
- Tip 4: Back Brentford to win 2-1: I think Brentford will go on to win this match as they have the superior squad, but Burnley will not make it easy for the Bees as they are fighting for their lives. Brentford will likely concede as their defence has not been up to scratch this season, but they should have enough up front to take the 3 points back to London. If you want to back a 2-1 Brentford win, then Betiton Sport are offering odds of 7.95 for this outcome.

1️⃣Burnley Update
Not many punters and football fans gave Burnley much chance of surviving this season in the Premier League, and it seems that they are going to be completely correct. With just three wins all season, it is impossible to see Burnley beating the drop. They are averaging under a goal per game, while they are conceding 2.2 goals per match.
When it comes to form over the last ten rounds of matches, they are sitting right at the bottom of the pile, having only managed three draws from those games. They need about another 20 points from their remaining matches and, since this is more than what they have achieved in 28 matches, it is hard to see them securing that many points. However, strange things do happen in the EPL.
Below are their previous five EPL results:
Last 5 Premier League Games | |
---|---|
West Ham2 Burnley2 | 10.03.24 |
Burnley0 Bournemouth2 | 03.03.24 |
Crystal Palace3 Burnley0 | 24.02.24 |
Burnley0 Arsenal5 | 17.02.24 |
Liverpool3 Burnley1 | 10.02.24 |
Vincent Kompany will be missing five players for this clash with Brentford, and you can see their absentees in the following table:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Nathan Redmond | Thigh Injury |
Luca Koleosho | Knee Injury |
Aaron Ramsey | Cruciate Ligament Injury |
Jordan Beyer | Thigh Injury |
Lyle Foster | Muscle Injury |
2️⃣Brentford Update
Last season, Brentford finished just two points adrift of a Europa Conference League spot, but this season has been much tougher for Thomas Frank and his men. At this stage in the season, with ten games left to play, they have already conceded six more goals than they did across the whole of the 2022/23 campaign. They also need to score 1.8 goals per game between now and May in order to match their goal tally from last year.
Over the last ten matches, only Everton, Sheffield United, and Burnley have picked up fewer points than the Bees. I do think they will have enough to beat the drop, but it will be closer than those of a Brentford persuasion would like. Below are their five previous EPL results:
Last 5 Premier League Games | |
---|---|
Arsenal2 Brentford1 | 09.03.24 |
Brentford2 Chelsea2 | 02.03.24 |
West Ham4 Brentford2 | 26.02.24 |
Man City1 Brentford0 | 20.02.24 |
Brentford1 Liverpool4 | 17.02.24 |
Frank has a bit of an injury crisis with ten players out for this clash, but they should still have enough to come out on top. You can find out all their missing players below:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Sergio Reguilon | Thigh Injury |
Christian Norgaard | Back Injury |
Kevin Schade | Muscle Injury |
Ben Mee | Ankle Injury |
Ethan Pinnock | Ankle Injury |
Bryan Mbuemo | Ankle Injury |
Aaron Hickey | Hamstring Strain |
Rico Henry | Knee Injury |
Josh Dasilva | Knee Injury |
