Relegation candidates Everton, purely because of their points deduction, will welcome Unai Emery's Aston Villa to Goodison Park on Sunday the 14th of January. Both of these teams have been in some decent form in the Premier League as of late, so this has all the makings of yet another entertaining and dramatic EPL match. Who will go on to win though? Well, read my prediction and you will find out my winners and other useful betting tips.
🏆 Everton vs Aston Villa: Who Will Win?
Sean Dyche and his men were thrown a huge curveball when they were deducted 10 points for breaking the rules and regulations regarding spending. This dropped them from a position of relative comfort straight into the relegation blender, but the perceived sense of injustice seemed to spur them on too. They are currently in the top half of the EPL form table and would be just five points adrift of a Conference League place without the aforementioned deduction.
Aston Villa, on the other hand, have been the surprise package of the Premier League this season. On Boxing Day, they threw away a 2-0 lead against an average United side, but that has been one of the few blips in their impressive campaign. They are currently sitting in second place in the table, three points adrift of Liverpool in first. From the last 18 points that have been on offer, they have picked up 13.
Everton are a different prospect when they are playing at Goodison Park, but Villa will travel here knowing that they have not lost to their opponents in the league since they earned promotion back to the First Division of English football in 2019. Given the fact that Everton are at home and Villa's away form has been patchy, I am backing a draw.
My Prediction: 🏆 Everton 1 Aston Villa 1 ⚽
💯 Everton vs Aston Villa Match Odds
Due to how popular football is, all of the top new UK betting sites and established ones will offer a variety of different football betting markets. However, there are three in particular that I like to focus on, and these are the match winner, over/under 2.5 goals, and both teams to score. Below you can find the odds that five top UK bookies are currently offering for these popular markets.

Everton vs Aston Villa: Match Winner Odds
Due to Everton's home form and Villa's tendency to blow hot and cold when playing away from home, the bookmakers have no overwhelming favourite for this match. Villa are the slight favourites thanks to their overall form this season. The odds that they are offering can be found in the following table:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Everton | 2.68 | 2.68 | 2.70 | 2.55 | 2.75 |
Draw | 3.45 | 3.45 | 3.60 | 3.15 | 3.50 |
Aston Villa | 2.34 | 2.34 | 2.37 | 2.25 | 2.40 |
Everton vs Aston Villa: Both Teams To Score Odds
Aston Villa have scored 43 goals this season, which is the same number as Liverpool, and just two fewer than Manchester City. As a result, they have been one of the most entertaining teams in the league. Everton have scored in five of their last six matches, and they will be boosted by the return of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. With the above stats in mind, it is not a shock that the bookies are backing BTTS:
Yes/No | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.52 | 1.52 | 1.60 | 1.53 | 1.53 |
No | 2.31 | 2.31 | 2.25 | 2.25 | 2.37 |
Everton vs Aston Villa: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
When it comes to the over/under 2.5 goals market, the bookies believe that the over option is the one that is most likely to happen. In my opinion, this is a bit of a tricky market in this match because out of the previous ten matches, five have ended with more than 2.5 goals being scored and five have ended with fewer than 2.5 goals being scored. Below are the odds for this market:
Under/Over | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 Goals | 1.64 | 1.64 | 1.61 | 1.63 | 1.66 |
Under 2.5 Goals | 2.08 | 2.08 | 2.20 | 2.05 | 2.10 |
✔️ Everton vs Aston Villa - Betting Tips
It is now time for me to provide you with my football betting tips for this Everton vs Aston Villa match.
- Tip 1: Bet on a draw: Some football bettors might look at where both these teams are in the table and predict an easy win for Villa, but there are no easy games in the EPL. Villa are fighting for a Champions League spot, while Everton are fighting for survival, so no quarter will be given. They have picked up wins recently at home against Chelsea and Newcastle, while they held a quality Brighton team to a draw. I think the most likely outcome in this match is a draw, and if you feel the same way, then William Hill are offering odds of 3.60.
- Tip 2: Bet on both teams to score: If there is one thing that Villa have struggled with this season, it is keeping clean sheets. From the 19 matches that Martinez has played in, he has kept just the four clean sheets. Pickford has kept six clean sheets in 20 matches. Thus, in 39 games between them, they have only kept a clean sheet in just under 25% of their games. Both teams should score in this one, and William Hill are offering *goto William Hill-Sport [odds of 1.60]*.
- Tip 3: Bet on Watkins to score: If you like to bet on a player to score, then you should consider putting money on Ollie Watkins to find the back of the net. In the 28 matches that he has played this season, he has scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists. If you want to bet on Watkins to score past Pickford at any time, then Betiton Sport are offering odds of 2.62.
1️⃣ Everton Update
Were it not for their points deduction towards the end of last year, Everton would be sitting comfortably in mid-table, with a spot in the Europa Conference League in their sights. As it is, though, they are sitting just one point above the Relegation Zone, with their record of never having been relegated from the Premier League in jeopardy. Out of their last six matches, they have picked up nine points, which puts them 9th in the current EPL form table - this is above teams such as Arsenal, Newcastle, and Manchester United.

Dyche thought he was going to be missing his main striker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, for this match as he was sent off in their FA Cup match against Crystal Palace, but his red card was rescinded. However, he will still be without a handful of other players, and the absentees can be found in the table below:

---|---|
Idrissa Gueye | International Duty |
Dele Alli | Groin Injury |
Ashley Young | Muscle Injury |
Abdoulaye Doucoure | Thigh Injury |

2️⃣Aston Villa Update
If you had told any football fan, including Villa fans, that Emery's team would be sitting in second place after 20 matches, they probably would have laughed in your face. However, Emery has worked wonders with a team that Steven Gerrard left teetering on the edge of relegation. In fact, in 2023, only Manchester City picked up more league points than the team from the Second City. They have had a few blips along the way, such as throwing away a 2-0 lead against United on Boxing Day, but they will be disappointed if they do not bag a Champions League spot come May. In their previous six matches, they have picked up 13 points and are 4th in the form table.

Like Dyche, Emery also has several absentees for this match, and they can be seen in the following table:
