One of the matches that stands out from the handful of midweek Premier League games that are scheduled to be played is Everton vs Liverpool. These two teams hate each other with a passion, so these matches are usually feisty and entertaining no matter where either team are sitting in the league table. Liverpool are battling for the title while Everton are looking to avoid relegation from the EPL for the first time in their history. Check out my prediction below to find out who I think will go on to win this big derby.
🏆 Everton vs Liverpool: Who Will Win?
Everton picked up a big win at the weekend as they defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0. However, they can count their lucky stars that they claimed all three points as Forest could have had at least three penalties awarded to them. They will now feel that they need just two more wins from their remaining five matches to book themselves yet another season in the Premier League. If they do manage to stay up, they will need to purchase a decent goal scorer as only Sheffield United have scored fewer goals than the Toffees this season.
Liverpool, like Arsenal, also had a week to forget as they lost to Crystal Palace in the EPL, which was sandwiched between a 3-1 aggregate loss to Atalanta in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. Their Premier League title destiny is now out of their hands, so the only thing that they can keep doing is winning and hoping that Manchester City drop some points. They played Fulham at the weekend and picked up a comfortable 3-1 win, which is the exact score that I predicted.
I think that they will get another three points here, although I expect the Evertonians to make it hard for their local rivals. Liverpool's class should shine through in the end though, and I am going to go for a 3-1 win for Jurgen Klopp and his men.
My Prediction: 🏆Everton 1 Liverpool 3 ⚽
💯 Everton vs Liverpool Match Odds
When these two teams clashed at Anfield in October of last year, Liverpool came out on top with a 2-0 win. Liverpool were all over their rivals from the start, and things got worse for the Toffees when Ashley Young was giving his marching orders with half-time approaching and the score still at 0-0. Everton, to be fair to them, defended stoically but two goals from Mohamad Salah in the 75th and 97th minute sealed all three points for Liverpool. I am expecting a similar kind of match here, with Liverpool dominating the ball and Everton trying their best to frustrate and nick a point.
You will not find it hard to come across an established or new UK betting site that is offering odds and markets for each EPL game, but you will obviously want to bet your money at the cream of the crop. This is why I am now going to provide you with five of my favourite bookmakers and the odds that they are currently offering for the match winner, both teams to score, and over/under 2.5 goals.
🏅 Everton vs Liverpool: Match Winner Odds
Since there is a 44-point gap in the league table between these two teams, it will not surprise you to find out that Jurgen Klopp's men are the big favourites to win this game. When you check out the odds for an Everton win or a draw, you will see that the bookies are not giving the Toffees any chance of causing some sort of upset. Sometimes I think the odds are a little unfair, but I have no issues with the match winner odds in the table below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Everton | 6.15 | 6.15 | 6.50 | 6.50 | 6.75 |
Draw | 4.80 | 4.80 | 4.75 | 4.75 | 4.75 |
Liverpool | 1.44 | 1.44 | 1.48 | 1.44 | 1.45 |
⚽ Everton vs Liverpool: Both Teams To Score Odds
In some leagues, such as the Serie A, you will find that defence outweighs attack, but it is the complete opposite in the Premier League. Italian teams seem to pride themselves on their defensive abilities, while English teams seem to prefer to attack and score as many goals as possible. The high number of goals scored during each round of matches is one of the main reasons why the EPL has become the most popular football league in the world.
Due to how common goals are, most bookies, no matter the match, will favour the both teams to score market. This match does not buck this trend, and you can see the BTTS odds in the table below:
BTTS | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.55 | 1.55 | 1.55 | 1.56 | 1.62 |
No | 2.36 | 2.26 | 2.30 | 2.20 | 2.25 |
🥅 Everton vs Liverpool: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
I can barely remember a Premier League match that I have written a prediction for in recent weeks where the bookies were not predicting there to be at least three goals scored. This is another match that fits into the over 2.5 goals category according to my five selected bookies, and I agree with them here.
From the odds in the table below and the odds from the two markets above, we can deem that these bookies believe that the most likely outcome for this match is for Liverpool to come out on top as 2-1 winners.
Over/Under 2.5 Goals | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.50 | 1.50 | 1.52 | 1.44 | 1.47 |
Under 2.5 | 2.41 | 2.41 | 2.45 | 2.50 | 2.55 |
✔️ Everton vs Liverpool - Betting Tips
Before you go ahead and place a bet on a match, whether that is with your own hard-earned money or a free bet, I recommend that you read as many betting tips as possible since knowledge is power in this hobby. The more stats that you know, the more educated your bet will be, which can increase your chances of winning. However, always remember that winning is not guaranteed when sports betting, no matter your knowledge. This is what makes things so exciting.
Below you can find four of my top betting tips for this Everton vs Liverpool match:
- Tip 1: Bet on Liverpool to win: Recent head-to-head records can tell us a lot as to which way a match could potentially go, and from the previous five matches between these two teams Everton have only managed to get a solitary draw. In fact, in the last 14 years, Everton have only managed to beat their local rivals once. Furthermore, Liverpool have the best home record in the league this season, having lost just once, while Everton's away form has not been anything to shout about - just five wins in 17 games. Those who want to bet on a Liverpool win can find odds of 1.48 at 10Bet Sport.
- Tip 2: Bet on both teams to score: Everton are the second-lowest scorers in the division this season, averaging just 1.03 goals per match, but I can see them sneaking a consolation goal against their bitter rivals. Liverpool have conceded in nine of their last ten matches, which included games against Burnley, Luton, and Sheffield United. Everton have managed to score in seven of their last ten games, so they will back themselves to find the net here. If you would like to put money on both teams scoring in this game, then BetUK Sports are currently offering odds of 1.62.
- Tip 3: Back Mohamad Salah to score: Liverpool fans have been suggesting that it is time for the club and Salah to part ways, and I can see where they are coming from. He has not been at his mercurial best this season, but he still has 17 goals in the EPL, which is more than any other Liverpool player. He has also scored a total of seven goals against Everton in his career, so he enjoys playing against them. If you think that he will score in this derby, then you can find odds of 1.92 on offer at LeoVegas Sports.
- Tip 4: Bet on Liverpool to win the game 3-1: Everton will make things tricky for their big rivals, but Liverpool have a lot more class in their squad and should end up coming away with a comfortable win. However, they have struggled for clean sheets this season, and I can see the Toffees getting themselves a little consolation goal. If you want to put money on a 3-1 win for Liverpool, then Betition Sport are currently offering odds of 9.60.
N.B. Always gamble responsibly by setting yourself a budget with an amount that you know you can afford to potentially lose. Do not chase your losses.
1️⃣Everton Update
Everton have a proud record of never having been relegated from the English Premier League, but it might do them the world of good to go down, reset, and then come back up. Look how well it worked out for Aston Villa - they were also stinking out the EPL for three seasons before their relegation, and now they are one of the best teams in the league. The Toffees have 30 points from their 33 matches and will probably believe that another six points will be enough to book themselves another relegation battle next season. They are five points above Luton Town in 18th and have a superior goal difference.
Their form at the moment is relegation form as only Sheffield United and Burnley have picked up fewer than their nine points over the last ten rounds of matches. During this time they have scored just the eight goals while conceding 18. Below you can see their previous five EPL results:
Last 5 Premier League Games | |
---|---|
Everton2 Nottingham Forest0 | 21.04.24 |
Chelsea6 Everton0 | 15.04.24 |
Everton1 Burnley0 | 06.04.24 |
Newcastle United1 Everton1 | 02.04.24 |
Bournemouth2 Everton1 | 30.03.24 |
Sean Dyche has five players out injured for this big game against Liverpool, and you can see who these missing players are in the following table:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Nathan Patterson | Hamstring Injury |
Beto | Head Injury |
Lewis Dobbin | Ankle Injury |
Seamus Coleman | Groin Injury |
Dele Alli | Groin Injury |
2️⃣Liverpool Update
Liverpool, like Arsenal, do not have their title destiny in their own hands anymore after their defeat to Crystal Palace. Their 3-1 win over Fulham put them one point ahead of Manchester City in the table, but City have a game in hand as they did not play an EPL match at the weekend due to their FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea. Klopp's men have performed well all season, but it could still end up that the only bit of silverware that they pick up is the League Cup.
They are currently sitting third in the EPL form table having picked up 23 points from the last 30 that have been available. This includes seven wins two draws, and one defeat. During this time, they have averaged 2.30 goals per game while conceding 1.0 per match. Below are their previous five EPL results:
Last 5 Premier League Games | |
---|---|
Fulham1 Liverpool3 | 22.04.24 |
Liverpool0 Crystal Palace1 | 19.04.24 |
Manchester United2 Liverpool2 | 07.04.24 |
Liverpool3 Sheffield United1 | 04.04.24 |
Liverpool2 Brighton1 | 31.03.24 |
At this important stage in the season, Klopp has just four players out injured, and you can see who these missing players are in the table below:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Joel Matip | Knee Injury |
Thiago Alcantara | Thigh Injury |
Ben Doak | Knee Injury |
Conor Bradley | Knee Injury |
