Mid-table Chelsea will take a trip to Anfield on the 31st of January to take on Liverpool, who are currently sitting at the top of the English Premier League. The Blues are in 9th spot and, realistically, the best that they can probably hope for this season is a spot in the Europa Conference League - Not great for a team that has spent billions. Liverpool will be dreaming of getting their hands on the coveted trophy, but they have to shake off a stubborn Manchester City. Who will go on and win this clash? Well, you can find out my views in my prediction below.
🏆 Liverpool vs Chelsea: Who Will Win?
Liverpool have lost just the one match all season, and that was against Tottenham. However, ask a Liverpool fan about that defeat, and you will be hearing about how they were wronged for the next 30 minutes or so. Although to be fair, they do have a point. They are currently sitting at the top of the EPL form table, having picked up 4 wins and 2 draws from their previous 6 matches. Only Brighton have more draws than them this season, though, so they will be looking to convert those into wins to keep City at bay.
Chelsea are having a pretty poor season, especially when you take into consideration the amount of money that they have spent in recent years, but they have found some form lately, picking up 12 points from the last 18 points on offer. They will head into this match in a good mood, regardless of what happens in their FA Cup clash with Aston Villa, as they booked themselves a spot in the Carabao Cup final in February.
While most football bettors will probably put their money on Liverpool to win, I am going to go against the grain here and predict that this match will end in a draw. As for a potential scoreline, I think it will end 1-1.
My Prediction: 🏆 Liverpool 1 Chelsea 1 ⚽
💯 Liverpool vs Chelsea Match Odds
All bookies that you come across in the United Kingdom will offer their punters a range of football betting odds, markets, and free bets because of how popular football is, but obviously, not all bookies have been created in an equal manner. If you are looking for a bookmaker to register with to bet on this great sport, then you cannot go wrong with the mixture of established and new UK betting sites that I have mentioned below.
In the following tables, you can find odds for popular markets such as match winner, both teams to score, and over/under 2.5 goals. Click on the logos if you want to find out more information about any of the bookmakers.
Liverpool vs Chelsea: Match Winner Odds
The bookmakers, as expected, have Liverpool as the favourites to go on and win this match. This is because of the current difference in form that exists between the two teams. As mentioned above, Liverpool have lost just a solitary match all season, while Chelsea have already lost 8. There is a 17-point gap between these two teams, so it would seem that everything points towards a win for the home side. You can find the match winner odds in the following table:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Liverpool | 1.59 | 1.59 | 1.65 | 1.70 | 1.66 |
Draw | 4.10 | 4.10 | 4.20 | 4.30 | 4.20 |
Chelsea | 4.60 | 4.60 | 4.75 | 4.90 | 4.75 |
Liverpool vs Chelsea: Both Teams To Score Odds
The bookmakers are predicting that both teams will score in this match, and it is not hard to see why this is the case. Liverpool have scored 13 goals in their previous six matches and are the second highest scorers in the league, while Chelsea have scored in 5 of their previous 6 games, and are averaging 1.6 goals per match. Below you can find the odds that my five quality bookies are currently offering for both teams to find the back of the net:
Yes/No | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.52 | 1.52 | 1.55 | 1.56 | 1.56 |
No | 2.32 | 2.32 | 2.30 | 2.35 | 2.35 |
Liverpool vs Chelsea: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
Since the bookies have Liverpool to win and both teams to score, it will come as no surprise to hear that they also think that there will be over 2.5 goals scored in this match. Although, I am struggling to agree with this one though as you would need to go back to 2020 for the last time that more than 3 goals were scored in a match between Liverpool and Chelsea. The over/under 2.5 goals odds can be seen below:
Yes/No | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.51 | 1.51 | 1.54 | 1.54 | 1.54 |
Under 2.5 | 2.34 | 2.34 | 2.45 | 2.50 | 2.50 |
✔️ Liverpool vs Chelsea - Betting Tips
There is nothing that can stop you from placing a random wager and hoping that luck is on your side, but I do not recommend that you rely on luck as your sole betting strategy. What I do recommend you do is read betting tips from tipsters, so below I have given you some quality football betting tips for this Liverpool vs Chelsea match.
- Tip 1: Bet on a draw: I can see why Liverpool are the big favourites to win this match, but I am struggling to look beyond the more recent meetings between these teams. There have been 7 consecutive draws, which tends to tell me that form seems to go out of the window when Liverpool and Chelsea play. Such matches should be entertaining, but that has rarely been the case in recent seasons. If you want to bet on the draw, then LeoVegas Sports are offering odds of 4.30.
- Tip 2: Bet on under 2.5 goals: The bookies think that there will be goals in this one, but history, once again, tells us something different. The last time that three goals were scored in a match between these sides was the summer of 2020 - when the league was extended due to the pandemic. From the previous 5 meetings, 4 have finished in 0-0 draws, while their last meeting ended 1-1. So, I think you can see why I am tempted by under 2.5 goals. If you are, then BetUK Sports are offering odds of 2.50.
- Tip 3: Bet on a 1-1 scoreline: Some punters like to bet on the correct score because of the enticing odds that are sometimes on offer. If you fall into this category and agree with my scoreline of 1-1, then you can find odds of 7.80 at Betiton Sport.
- Tip 4: Bet on Conor Gallagher to be booked: Are you the kind of football punter who likes to put money on a player to be booked in a bet builder? If yes, then I suggest you think about putting money on Gallagher to pick up a yellow. He has no issue putting in a tackle to break up play, nor is he against taking one for the team. If you want to bet on Gallagher to be booked, then BetUk Sports have odds of 2.18 on offer.
1️⃣Liverpool Update
Liverpool, it must be said, deserve to be at the top of the table because they have been the most consistent team in the league throughout the season. They are averaging 2.24 goals per match, while they are conceding a paltry 0.86 goals per game. It will not come as much of a surprise to hear that they are also sitting at the top of the EPL form table, having picked up 14 points from the last 18 that have been on offer.

Jurgen Klopp has several absentees that he will not be able to call upon for this match due to injuries and international duty. In the following table, you can see the players that will be missing for this match against Chelsea:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Joel Matip | Cruciate Ligament Tear |
Stefan Bajcetic | Calf Injury |
Andrew Robertson | Shoulder Injury |
Ben Doak | Meniscus Tear |
Konstantinos Tsimikas | Broken Collarbone |

Trent Alexander-Arnold | Torn Lateral Knee Ligament |
Wataru Endo | International Duty |
2️⃣Chelsea Update
Many pundits and fans expected this season to be a bit of a transitional period for Chelsea, but not many probably predicted that it would be to this extent. They are currently sitting in the 9th spot with 31 points to their name, and it will be a struggle for them to finish in a European spot come May. However, their form has picked up as of late and they are currently sitting in 5th place in the EPL form table with 12 points from their previous six matches. Chelsea fans at least have a Carabao Cup final to look forward to, which could also be against Liverpool.

Mauricio Pochettino, like Klopp, also has several players missing for this clash, but there should be no sympathy here because they have spent over a billion to build a squad of players. If a few injuries have such an impact on a squad that cost over a billion, then something is wrong. Below are the missing players:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Wesley Fofana | Cruciate Ligament Tear |
Reece James | Hamstrong Injury |
Marc Cucurella | Ankle Surgery |
Robert Sanchez | Knee Injury |
Lesley Ugochukwu | Hamstring Injury |
Romeo Lavia | Unknown Injury |
Christopher Nkunku | Hip Injury |
Nicholas Jackson | International Duty |
