Most teams in the Premier League are battling it out for something at this stage in the season, and these two teams are no exception to this. Manchester City, as everyone predicted at the start of the season, are fighting it out for the title, while Luton Town are doing their best to book themselves a second season in England's top division. Will Luton Town cause a big upset or will Man City get a routine three points? Keep on reading and all of my views will be revealed.
🏆 Manchester City vs Luton Town: Who Will Win?
Manchester City went through a little bit of a rough patch in December, but they have well and truly overcome that, having not lost a game since their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa. In the early kick-off on Saturday, they dispatched Crystal Palace 4-2, and on Tuesday evening they played a thrilling match against Real Madrid which ended 3-3 - if you haven't seen the goals, go check them out. They are in end-of-season mode at present, which is not good news for Luton.
Luton Town picked up what could turn out to be a huge three points on Saturday thanks to a late Carlton Morris goal against Bournemouth. Safety is still within their reach with six games left to play. Nobody is expecting them to take any points from City, so they can enter this match with less pressure on their shoulders. They can just give it their best shot and if they do manage to get anything out of it, then it will be an added bonus.
However, I do not see them causing any sort of upset. City are too good and it should be a routine win for the home team. As for the scoreline, I am going to go ahead and predict a 3-0 win for Manchester City.
My Prediction: 🏆Man City 3 Luton Town 0 ⚽
💯 Manchester City vs Luton Town Match Odds
When these two teams met in Kenilworth Road in December, the Hatters actually gave City a very good game. City had all of the ball, but it was Luton who took the lead when Elijah Adebayo scored on the brink of half-time. City upped their game in the second half, and they were on level terms when Bernado Silva scored in the 62nd minute. Then, three minutes later, Jack Grealish scored what turned out to be the winning goal.
The English Premier League is one of the most popular football competitions in the world, so you can be certain that new UK betting sites and established ones worth their salt will have plenty of EPL betting options on offer. Below you can find five quality bookmakers and the odds that they have available for three popular markets.
🏅 Manchester City vs Luton Town: Match Winner Odds
Since Luton Town are in a relegation battle and Manchester City are fighting it out with Liverpool and Arsenal for the title, you will not be surprised to find out that my favourite five UK bookies have City as the huge favourites for this match. In fact, it is not often that you will see Premier League match winner odds as long as those being offered for a Luton victory. Those who enjoy betting on the match winner can find the current odds below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Manchester City | 1.07 | 1.07 | 1.08 | 1.06 | 1.07 |
Draw | 10.40 | 10.40 | 9.50 | 12.00 | 12.50 |
Luton Town | 22.00 | 22.00 | 29.00 | 30.00 | 30.00 |
⚽ Manchester City vs Luton Town: Both Teams To Score Odds
Luton have struggled for goals this season, although they currently have the same number as Manchester United, so it stands to reason that the bookmakers believe that both teams will not score in this game. I predicted City to go on and win this match 3-0, so I also agree with what the bookmakers are predicting. If this is your type of market, then take a gander at the both teams to score odds below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 2.05 | 2.05 | 2.05 | 2.15 | 2.20 |
No | 1.66 | 1.66 | 1.70 | 1.57 | 1.64 |
🥅 Manchester City vs Luton Town: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
The bookies are certain that there will be over 2.5 goals scored in this match and they are also pretty sure that there could be four goals scored. Since they do not think Luton will find the back of the net, what this tells us is that they think City will go on to win this match by a 3-0 or 4-0 scoreline. A very realistic probability in my opinion. The odds for over/under 2.5 goals are shown below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.23 | 1.23 | 1.25 | 1.22 | 1.24 |
Under 2.5 | 3.72 | 3.72 | 3.75 | 3.70 | 3.75 |
✔️ Manchester City vs Luton Town - Betting Tips
Before you go ahead and place a bet with your own hard-earned money or any free bets that you have, do yourself a solid and check out my Manchester City vs Luton Town betting tips.
- Tip 1: Add Man City to win to an accy: City are in great form at the moment and are playing some scintillating football - their match against Real was as entertaining a game as you will ever see. They have top-class players all over the pitch, and even the best teams will struggle against them when they are in this kind of mood. Luton Town are not one of the best, so this should be a routine home win. Due to the short odds of 1.08 at 10Bet, you might want to add City to win to an Accy.
- Tip 2: Bet against both teams scoring: City's defence has not been as solid this season as they would have liked. In fact, they still have seven matches to play and they have conceded just two fewer goals than the whole of last season. Both teams have scored in 78% of Luton's matches this season, but I just cannot see them having the firepower to breach City's defence. If you want to back against both teams finding the back of the net, then 10Bet Sport currently have odds of 1.70.
- Tip 3: Bet on Phil Foden to score: Foden is currently playing some of the best football of his career. He scored a hat-trick against Villa last week and in yesterday's Champions League match he scored a thunderbolt to bring City level. Both Villa and Real Madrid have better defences than Luton, so I can see Foden having a bit of a field day on Saturday afternoon. LeoVegas are currently offering odds of 2.10 for him to score.
- Tip 4: Bet on Man City to win 3-0: I always like checking out the correct score market since there are usually some pretty enticing odds available. Man City will have all of the ball here and will have plenty of goal-scoring opportunities, even though Luton Town will employ a low block. I think they will be able to find the back of the net three times while keeping Luton Town out. Betiton Sport are offering odds of 6.05 for this score prediction.
N.B. When you are betting on football or any other sport, always remember to do so responsibly.
1️⃣Manchester City Update
Manchester City are sitting in third place in the table with 70 points from the 31 matches that they have played. This leaves them just one point behind Liverpool and Arsenal, who are joint top. They will need to win their remaining seven matches and hope that their rivals slip up at least once so that they can pounce and create history by being the first team to win four titles back-to-back.
They are currently second in the form table, having picked up 24 points from the previous 30 that have been on offer. Their six dropped points have come from draws with Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal. You can see their previous five EPL results below:
Last 5 Premier League Games | |
---|---|
Crystal Palace2 Manchester City4 | 06.04.24 |
Manchester City4 Aston Villa1 | 03.04.24 |

Pep Guardiola has just two players who will likely be unavailable for this match against Luton Town. Even if he had more, he has a big enough squad to cope. The two absentees can be seen below:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Nathan Ake | Calf Injury |
Phil Foden | Muscle Injury |
2️⃣Luton Town Update
Both Nottingham Forest and Everton have suffered a points deduction this season, which has helped out Luton Town a lot. The Hatters are currently sitting in 18th place with 25 points under their belt - Forest have 25 as well while Everton have 27, which means that Luton still have a really good chance of escaping the drop and booking themselves a second season in the EPL.
They will need to improve their form though as they are currently sitting at the bottom of the form table with just 5 points from their last ten games. In this time, they have scored an average of 1.30 goals per game while conceding 2.30. Below are their previous five EPL results:
Last 5 Premier League Games | |
---|---|
Luton Town2 Bournemouth1 | 06.04.24 |
Arsenal2 Luton Town0 | 03.04.24 |
Tottenham2 Luton Town1 | 30.03.24 |
Luton Town1 Nottingham Forest1 | 16.03.24 |
Bournemouth4 Luton Town3 | 13.03.24 |
With such a small squad, Rob Edwards really cannot afford many injuries, but that is exactly what he has to deal with at present. He currently has ten players out injured, and you can see their missing personnel below:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Dan Potts | Hamstring Strain |
Chiedozie Ogbene | Hamstring Strain |
Elijah Adebayo | Hamstring Strain |
Gabriel Osho | Knee Injury |
Mads Andersen | Calf Injury |
Tom Lockyer | Heart Issues |
Marvelous Nakamba | Knee Injury |
Albert Sambi Lokonga | Hamstring Strain |
Jacob Brown | Knee Injury |
