West Ham will travel up to Manchester on the 4th of February to take on Manchester United at Old Trafford. This used to be an away fixture that teams and fans used to dread, but this has not been the case in recent years. Teams now know that they can cause plenty of issues at the Theatre of Dreams and that the home fans are quick to turn on their players when things are not going to plan. Both of these Premier League teams are eying a European spot next season, but who will earn the three available points? Check out my prediction below for my views.
🏆 Manchester United vs West Ham: Who Will Win?
Everyone has been saying what a horrendous season Manchester United have had so far, but I do not think it is as bad as what some like to make out. Yes, it will be hard for them to make it into the top four this season, but we need to keep in mind that the team that finishes in 5th could also bag a spot in next season's Champions League - United are just eight points adrift of Villa in 5th, so are certainly not out of the reckoning just yet. They have not been playing well, but they seem to just do enough to stay in contention.
West Ham are sitting in 6th place and will also have their eyes set on a spot in next season's Champions League, although three consecutive draws will not have done a lot for their chances of that happening. David Moyes gets a lot of stick, and most of that I think is uncalled for as the Scotsman is doing a pretty solid job with a limited budget. In their last ten matches, they have won five, drawn four, and lost one. Picking up 19 points from a possible 30 is very respectable in my book.
West Ham won 2-0 when they played United in December, but I do not think that they will win this time around. I think that there will be little to separate the two teams, and the match will end in a stalemate. I am predicting an entertaining draw with a scoreline of 2-2.
My Prediction: 🏆 Manchester United 2 West Ham 2 ⚽
💯 Manchester United vs West Ham Match Odds
You now know my prediction for this Manchester United vs West Ham match, but this prediction would be incomplete if I did not provide you with some top odds that are currently being offered for it on popular football betting markets. Whether you are after new UK betting sites or established ones to bet on EPL matches there are plenty of options available to you. Below I am going to provide you with some of the best match winner, both teams to score, and over/under 2.5 goals odds around at the moment.
The five bookmakers that I mention in this prediction are top-quality sites that also offer a range of free bets to their punters. Click on the logos in the table to find out more about these bookies as you will be taken to our reviews which were written by our in-house experts.
Manchester United vs West Ham: Match Winner Odds
Since just one point separates these teams in the EPL table, you would be forgiven for thinking that the bookmakers' odds for the winner of this match would be pretty close. However, this is not the case as United are the huge favourites with the bookies to claim the points on offer. I could understand them being slight favourites because of the home advantage, but I do not understand why they have such short odds. Anyway, below are the match winner odds for this United vs West Ham clash:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Manchester United | 1.62 | 1.62 | 1.65 | 1.68 | 1.63 |
Draw | 4.15 | 4.15 | 4.20 | 4.35 | 4.20 |
West Ham | 4.80 | 4.80 | 5.00 | 5.10 | 5.00 |
Manchester United vs West Ham: Both Teams To Score Odds
Not only are the bookmakers pretty certain of a United win in this match, but they are also quite certain that both teams will end up finding the back of the net. United have been struggling for goals all season, but they have hit a purple patch, having scored 10 goals in their last four matches. West Ham have scored in eight of their last ten games, so I understand these odds more than the match winner ones above.
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.58 | 1.58 | 1.60 | 1.66 | 1.66 |
No | 2.28 | 2.28 | 2.20 | 2.17 | 2.17 |
Manchester United vs West Ham: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
Since the bookies have United as the big favourites and are backing both teams to score it will not surprise you to hear that they also think that there will be plenty of goals in this game. Both teams have some quality attacking players at their disposal, and both keepers should have a pretty busy 90 minutes. If you want to place a bet on this market, then check out the odds for it in the table below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.56 | 1.56 | 1.60 | 1.61 | 1.61 |
Under 2.5 | 2.28 | 2.28 | 2.30 | 2.33 | 2.31 |
✔️ Manchester United vs West Ham - Betting Tips
I am now going to provide you with some of my football betting tips for this Manchester United vs West Ham game. Now, obviously, nothing is forcing you to make use of these tips, but why don't you just give them a quick read and see what you think? You might end up seeing something that you very much agree with.
- Tip 1: Bet on a draw: The bookies have United as the big favourites to win this game, but I do not really know why when you consider how both teams have been playing in recent matches. I would have no gripes if United were slight favourites because they are playing at home, but the short odds are baffling to me. West Ham have shown their quality this season, and I can see nothing separating the two teams come the end of 90 minutes. LeoVegas are offering odds of 4.35 for a draw, which I think is great value.
- Tip 2: Bet on both teams to score: Both of these teams have some quality attackers at their disposal, so creating chances should not be much of an issue in this game. Although, Manchester United have struggled to score at times throughout the season, which is something that you might be wary about when it comes to such a market. With that being said, I think both teams will find the back of the net, and you can find odds of 1.66 at BetUK Sports.
- Tip 3: Bet on Bruno Fernandes to be booked: If you like to place Bet Builders on a match, then there is a chance that you like to include a certain player to pick up a yellow card as these can increase the odds quite dramatically. If this sounds like you, then I would suggest that you include Fernandes to enter the referee's notebook. He is quite petulant at times and consistently talks himself into a booking. LeoVegas Sports are offering odds of 4.50 for him to be booked.
- Tip 4: Bet on a 2-2 scoreline: You can get some decent odds when you try to predict the correct score of a match because it is no easy feat to get it right. If you agree with my 2-2 prediction, then Betiton Sport are currently offering odds of 12.20 for this scoreline
1️⃣Manchester United
Manchester United have spent a lot of money in recent seasons, so they really should be doing better than what they are. However, despite what many others say, their season is not over just yet. If they pull their fingers out and play to the best of their ability between now and the end of the season, then there is every chance that they can sneak into the Champions League via a potential extra 5th spot.
United's main issue this season has been scoring goals - it might surprise you to hear that they currently have the same number of goals as Luton Town. Despite their struggles in front of goal, which seem to be lightening up a bit, they have still managed to pick up important points to keep them in contention.

2️⃣West Ham Update
West Ham sit in 6th place in the league thanks to the 36 points that they have picked up from their 22 matches. They have found the back of the net an average of 1.64 times per match, while they have conceded an average of 1.5 goals per game.
Moyes has gotten them playing some very good football over the previous ten rounds of matches as can be seen from the fact that only two teams have bettered their points total in this time - Bournemouth and Liverpool. If they can keep it up, then they might be able to break into next season's Champions League.
