Round 32 of the Premier League was another exciting round of football, with several results that could end up having a big say in where each team finishes come the end of the season in May. The first match of the weekend sees Tottenham make the long journey north to take on Newcastle at St. James' Park. Both of these teams are fighting it out for a spot in a European competition next season, so no quarter will be given. Read on to find out where I think the points will go.
🏆 Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur: Who Will Win?
Newcastle have picked up seven points from their last three matches, which included a hard-fought 1-0 win against Fulham in their previous match. Another season in the Champions League is beyond them, but they will have their eyes set on 6th place and a potential spot in the UEFA Champions League. Manchester United currently occupy this spot, but they have just a two-point cushion over the Geordies. Five or six other teams are battling it out for that position, so it will be a great battle in the final rounds.
Spurs fans would have been ecstatic to see Aston Villa throw away two points on Saturday as it meant that a win against Nottingham Forest would move them back up into the coveted fourth spot. Spurs made hard work of it in the first half, but two top goals from Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro sealed the points. Tottenham showed the attacking quality that they have all over the pitch, and it is hard to see them relinquishing fourth now - although, they do not have the easiest of fixture lists.
St. James' Park is never an easy place to go as can be seen from the fact that Newcastle have only lost three matches there all season. However, Spurs are playing some top football at the moment, and I can see them coming away with a hard-fought 3-2 win and a huge three points.
My Prediction: 🏆Newcastle 2 Spurs 3 ⚽
💯 Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur Match Odds
When Newcastle took on Tottenham on the 10th of December last year at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the home team walked away with a very comfortable 4-1 win - exacting a bit of revenge for the 6-1 drubbing they suffered on their last visit to St. James' Park. Spurs dominated the match in terms of shots and shots on target, and their 4-1 win was well deserved. The scorers for Tottenham that day were Destiny Udogie, Richarlison (x2), and Son Heung-min. Joelinton got a consolation goal for the Magpies in injury time.
Due to the popularity of the Premier League, established and new UK betting sites will always offer a range of markets and competitive odds for each match. Below you will find the odds that five of my favourite bookies are offering for three popular football betting markets - match winner, over/under 2.5 goals, and both teams to score.
🏅 Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur: Match Winner Odds
Given the form of both teams and where they sit in the table, you would be forgiven for thinking that Spurs would be the big favourites for this match. However, the bookmakers only have Spurs as the slight favourites to win, which can be put down to the fact that Newcastle are a tough nut to crack at home. With the odds that they are offering, it tells us that they would not be surprised if it ended in a Newcastle win or a draw. Check out the match winner odds in the following table:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Newcastle United | 2.58 | 2.58 | 2.70 | 2.70 | 2.75 |
Draw | 3.85 | 3.85 | 3.95 | 3.75 | 3.75 |
Tottenham Hotspur | 2.25 | 2.25 | 2.30 | 2.35 | 2.38 |
⚽ Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur: Both Teams To Score Odds
The bookmakers are 100% certain that both teams will manage to find the back of the net in this match. I am finding it hard to recall a time when I have seen lower odds for this market. If you are the kind of football bettor who likes to bet on this market, you will probably be a little disappointed by the short odds that are available. For those who are interested, you can check them out in the following table:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.29 | 1.29 | 1.30 | 1.30 | 1.35 |
No | 3.17 | 3.17 | 3.20 | 3.05 | 3.10 |
🥅 Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
Since the odds for both teams to score are so short, it will not come as much of a surprise to find out that the bookies are also pretty sure that there will be over 2.5 goals in this game. They also think that there is a decent chance that there will be at least four goals scored in this game. History tells us that this is usually a high-scoring fixture, but I will touch on that a bit more in the next section. For now, all you need to do is check out the over/under 2.5 goals odds below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.31 | 1.31 | 1.35 | 1.33 | 1.34 |
Under 2.5 | 3.06 | 3.06 | 3.10 | 3.00 | 3.00 |
✔️ Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur - Betting Tips
It is now time for me to give you my Newcastle United vs Tottenham betting tips, and I recommend that you give these a close read before you go ahead and start betting with your own money, or even with any free bets that you have acquired. You do not have to agree with my tips, but reading them will not do you any harm at all.
- Tip 1: Bet on Spurs to win: The last time Spurs travelled to Newcastle they were on the end of a 6-1 spanking, but that was just a very bad day at the office. I do not see a repeat happening this time around as Spurs are currently on a decent run of form and have plenty of momentum behind them. Newcastle are also in form, but Tottenham undoubtedly have better players and this should see them over the line. If you want to back Spurs to win, then BetUK Sports are currently offering odds of 2.38 for them to do so.
- Tip 2: Bet on BTTS: I would be really surprised if both teams did not get on the scoresheet in this match. Both teams have scored in 77% of Tottenham's matches this season, while the previous eight fixtures between these two sides have seen both teams find the back of the net. Furthermore, both teams have scored in the last 16 matches that these two teams have played in the league. You can find odds of 1.35 at BetUK Sports, so you might want to add this to an accy to boost the odds slightly.
- Tip 3: Bet on over 2.5 goals in an accy: History tells us that there will be goals in this match as the previous five matches have seen a total of 26 goals scored in total - that averages out at 5.20 goals per game. Furthermore, Spurs are averaging 2.10 goals in their previous 10 EPL matches, while Newcastle are averaging 2.40 goals. Both teams are in fine-scoring form, so this should be an entertaining game to kick-start the weekend. If you want to add over 2.5 goals to your accumulator, then 10Bet Sport are offering odds of 1.35 at present.
- Tip 4: Bet on Spurs to win 3-2: I can see this being a high-scoring affair due to the form that both teams are in and the attacking talent that they have at their disposal. It really is a match that could go either way since it is at St. James' Park, but I am back Spurs to come out on top as I think that their attack is slightly better. If you think Spurs will win 3-2, then Betiton Sport are offering odds of 14.10 for this correct score.
N.B. Always remember to gamble responsibly. You can do this by setting yourself a budget and setting up deposit limits.
1️⃣Newcastle United Update
Newcastle United are currently sitting in 8th place in the table with 47 points from the 31 matches that they have played. A win against Tottenham, coupled with some other results going their way, could see them move up into 6th. They went through a bit of a blip, where it looked like they might rule themselves completely out of the running for a spot in Europe next season, but they have found some form at a very crucial time in the season.
Regarding form, they are sitting in fifth place in the table as they have picked up 18 points from the last 30 that have been on offer to them. They have only lost to Arsenal and Chelsea in this time, so Spurs will know that they have a hard assignment ahead of them. Below are their previous five EPL results:
Last 5 Premier League Games | |
---|---|
Liverpool3 Sheffield United1 | 04.04.24 |
Fulham0 Newcastle United1 | 06.04.24 |
Newcastle United1 Everton1 | 02.04.24 |

Newcastle United3 Wolves0 | 03.03.24 |
Eddie Howe has not had much luck on the injury front this season, so it is quite amazing that they are where they are in the table. As you can see from the list below, his luck has not yet changed in this regard. This is another reason why I have Spurs to win.
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Miguel Almiron | Knee Injury |
Joe Willock | Ankle Injury |
Lewis Miley | Back Injury |
Jamaal Lascelles | Cruciate Ligament Injury |
Matt Target | Achilles Tendon Injury |

Sven Botman | Knee Injury |
Sandro Tonali | Misconduct |
2️⃣Tottenham Update
Spurs are now sitting in 4th place on 60 points, ahead of Aston Villa on goal difference. They also have a game in hand, but it is against Chelsea, which is not going to be an easy game. Given the fact that Spurs have had no European football this season, they should be the freshest of the top five, and they will be disappointed if they do not manage to seal a top-four spot.
From the previous ten EPL matches, they have picked up a total of 20 points which puts them in 4th spot in the form table. Only Arsenal, Man City, and Liverpool have managed to pick up more points over that time frame. Below are Spurs' previous five EPL results:
Last 5 Premier League Games | |
---|---|
Tottenham Hotspur3 Nottingham Forest1 | 07.04.24 |
West Ham1 Tottenham Hotspur1 | 02.04.24 |
Tottenham Hotspur2 Luton Town1 | 30.03.24 |
Fulham3 Tottenham Hotspur0 | 16.03.24 |
Aston Villa0 Tottenham Hotspur4 | 10.03.24 |
Ange Postecoglou has just the five players out injured, which is a blessing for any manager at this stage in the season. You can see their absentees in the following table:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Richarlison | Knee Injury |
Ryan Sessegnon | Hamstring Injury |
Fraser Forster | Unknown |
Manor Solomon | Meniscus Injury |
Alfie Whiteman | Ankle Injury |
