Newcastle and Wolves are both in with a good shout of claiming the Premier League's one and only Europa Conference League slot after Chelsea's defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup, and they will not have taken their eyes off a potential late dash for a spot in the Europa League. This makes this a huge match for both teams, but who will go on and claim the three points that could help make or break their season come the end of May? Let's crack on with my prediction and all will be revealed.
🏆 Newcastle vs Wolves: Who Will Win?
After finishing in in 4th last season with an impressive 71 points to their name, many Newcastle United fans would have expected more of the same this campaign. However, they have been blighted by injuries and this has had a big impact on their position in the league. From their previous 10 matches, they have only managed to pick up 11 points, and this has seen them drop to 9th in the table. They are 15 points adrift of Aston Villa in 4th, so the chances of another campaign in the UCL next season are all but gone.
Wolves were in danger of having a poor season and being involved in a relegation battle not too many months ago, but they have found their form over the last ten games, picking up six wins, a draw, and three defeats. In this time frame, only Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham have picked up more points than them. They are now right in the middle of a battle for Europe and will be full of confidence heading to St. James' Park this weekend.
Newcastle always play better at St. James' Park, but I think Wolves can nick a win based on their better form. As a result, I think I will opt for Wolves to win 2-1 and take another step closer to potential European football.
My Prediction: 🏆 Newcastle 1 Wolves 2 ⚽
💯 Newcastle vs Wolves Match Odds
The reverse fixture at the Molineux Stadium was a great match for the neutral, with both teams having to share the spoils in a 2-2 draw. A draw was probably a fair result on the night, but how has this past encounter and their current form impacted some popular football betting markets, and what are the latest odds that some top established and new UK betting sites are currently offering? All will be revealed in the three tables below.
Newcastle vs Wolves: Match Winner Odds
My five top UK bookmakers have Newcastle as the favourites to win this game, and this can only be put down to the fact that they are playing at home - we all know that Newcastle tend to be a completely different team when they are playing in front of 50,000 enthusiastic Geordies. The discrepancy in the odds cannot be based on form because Wolves are currently in much better form than their opponents. Check out the match odds that the bookies are offering for this game below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Newcastle | 1.77 | 1.77 | 1.83 | 1.78 | 1.79 |
Draw | 3.85 | 3.85 | 3.90 | 4.00 | 4.00 |
Wolves | 3.75 | 3.75 | 3.90 | 4.10 | 4.10 |
Newcastle vs Wolves: Both Teams To Score Odds
Sometimes the bookies are quite adamant that an outcome is going to happen, and the odds on offer will be quite short as a result. The BTTS market for this Newcastle vs Wolves match is an example of this as they are pretty certain that both of these teams will get on the scoresheet. If you like to put money on this market, then take a look at the current BTTS odds in the table below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.50 | 1.50 | 1.55 | 1.52 | 1.58 |
No | 2.36 | 2.36 | 2.30 | 2.28 | 2.38 |
Newcastle vs Wolves: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
With regard to the total number of goals that will be scored in this game, the bookmakers are pretty sure that there will be at least three goals scored. They do not think that four goals will be scored, so this, along with the fact that they reckon both teams will score, tells us that they, just like me, believe that this match will have a final scoreline of 2-1. Below you can find the latest over/under 2.5 goals odds:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.55 | 1.55 | 1.55 | 1.54 | 1.58 |
Under 2.5 | 2.26 | 2.26 | 2.30 | 2.28 | 2.33 |
✔️ Newcastle vs Wolves - Betting Tips
Regardless of the markets that you like the look of for this Newcastle vs Wolves match, your main aim is to try and find as much betting value as you can so that you get the bang for your buck - or in the case, your pound. Below I have given you some of my top football betting tips for this game. Take a look!
- Tip 1: Bet on Wolves to win: Gary O'Neil has Wolves playing some top football at the moment, and they have beaten Chelsea and Tottenham in their previous two away matches. They are 7th in the away form table over the last ten matches, so they clearly do not rely too much on home comforts. Newcastle, on the other hand, have only picked up two points from their last four home matches, so are reeling a little bit. There is value to be had in a Wolves win as LeoVegas are offering odds of 4.10.
- Tip 2: Bet on both teams to score: Wolves have scored in 69% of their away games this season, while Newcastle have seen both teams score in 54% of their home matches. Both teams have found the back of the net in Newcastle's last four matches at St James' Park, while eight of Wolves' previous ten away matches have seen both teams scoring. Everything is pointing towards both teams finding the back of the net, and BetUK are currently offering odds of 1.58 for this market.
- Tip 3: Bet on Guimaraes to be booked: There is usually value to be had in the yellow card betting market because the odds are usually quite long, even for players that are regularly booked. Guimaraes has already picked up 13 yellow cards this season, but LeoVegas are still offering odds of 2.95 for him to go into the referee's book. These are pretty good odds in my opinion.
- Tip 4: Bet on a 2-1 win for Wolves: I think this will be a close match, but I am backing Wolves to come out on top due to the fact that they are currently in better form. Both teams will score, but I fancy Wolves to nick it. Betiton Sport are offering odds of 11.30 for this scoreline.
N.B. Whether you are using your own cash or some free bets to wager on this match, you still need to ensure that you gamble responsibly. Set yourself a budget and stick to it - never chase losses as this leads to more financial woes more often than not.
Newcastle Update
If Newcastle do not end up getting any European football next season, then it will be a huge letdown for their passionate fan base after their experience in the 2023/24 Champions League last year. They are in danger of letting their fans down though as they currently sit in 9th place in the table, and are battling it out with six or seven teams for two European places.
They have only managed to pick up 11 points from their last ten league games, and this type of form will see them drop down the table more if they do not improve.

Eddie Howe has had to contend with several injury issues throughout the season, and things have still not eased off for the Newcastle manager. He currently has seven players out ahead of this Wolves clash, which includes his two keepers. However, Dubravka has a virus, so he should be fit for next weekend. You can see their absentees in the table below:

---|---|
Joelinton | Groin Surgery |
Elliot Anderson | Back Injury |
Matt Targett | Hamstring Injury |
Nick Pope | Shoulder Injury |
Callum Wilson | Chest Injury |
Sandro Tonali | Gambling Suspension |
2️⃣Wolves Update
O'Neil is slowly working his magic at Wolves as he has guided them to 8th in the EPL table, their highest position for more than two years. Earlier on in the season, they were playing like relegation fodder at times, but now they are one of the form teams in the league.
They are scoring more goals than they are conceding, which usually coincides with a move up the table. They now have their sights set on some European football for the first time in three seasons. With the way they are playing, it would be foolish to bet against them.
