Both of these Premier League teams will be eager for the points that are on offer here but for totally different reasons. Chelsea are still in the hunt for some sort of European football next season, while Sheffield United are fighting for their lives to stay in the league - personally, I think that their goose is cooked. Will Chelsea pick up the points or will they be cut down to size by the blades? Read on to find out all of my opinions.
🏆 Sheffield United vs Chelsea: Who Will Win?
Sheffield United suffered another defeat in their last match, which is their 21st defeat of the season. However, they should be buoyed by the battling display that they put in. With 75 minutes on the clock, the scores were level at one goal apiece, which is definitely not what many would have expected at that stage in the match. The Blades have played well in parts throughout the season, but the majority of their players are Championship standard.
Chelsea took on United in their previous match, and I had predicted a dour draw. However, I was completely wrong as it was one of the games of the season. Chelsea took a two-goal lead before United made it 3-3, and then Chelsea equalised right at the end of stoppage time. There was still time for more drama, and Palmer scored the latest EPL goal to send United packing with nothing. Blues fans will be hoping that this win galvanises them for the rest of the season.
Chelsea have much better players at their disposal and will be very confident of winning this match. I think that they will do exactly that, and I am going to go for a 3-1 scoreline.
My Prediction: 🏆Sheffield United 1 Chelsea 3 ⚽
💯 Sheffield United vs Chelsea Match Odds
When these two teams clashed in the Premier League in the middle of December, Chelsea came away with all of the points thanks to a 2-0 win. The Blues dominated the match, but the Blades were not willing to roll over and have their bellies tickled. Cole Palmer opened the scoring in the 54th minute, and Nicolas Jackson sealed all three points six minutes later. I expect a similar type of game, with Sheffield trying their best to frustrate their visitors.
You will always find plenty of football betting markets and competitive odds at the best established and new UK betting sites, and below you will find the recent odds for three popular markets for this Sheffield United vs Chelsea match. Those who have read any of my previous EPL predictions will know that the markets that I focus on are match winner, over/under 2.5 goals, and both teams to score.
🏅 Sheffield United vs Liverpool: Match Winner Odds
Since Chelsea have 28 more points than Sheffield United and a much better squad of players, you will not be shocked to find out that the Blues are the overwhelming favourites to pick up the points in this match. With the odds that they have given the Blades to win, they are basically telling you that betting on them is like throwing your money away. Those who like to bet on the match winner market can check out the odds below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Sheffield United | 6.75 | 6.75 | 6.50 | 7.00 | 7.50 |
Draw | 5.25 | 5.25 | 4.50 | 5.30 | 5.30 |
Chelsea | 1.38 | 1.38 | 1.42 | 1.37 | 1.37 |
⚽ Sheffield United vs Chelsea: Both Teams To Score Odds
Even though Sheffield United have struggled for goals all season, averaging under 1.00 goals per match, the bookies still think that there is a very good chance that they will get on the scoresheet against Chelsea. This is an indictment of just how poor Chelsea have been at times throughout the season. Check out the BTTS odds below if this is a market that you have any interest in.
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.56 | 1.56 | 1.57 | 1.55 | 1.61 |
No | 2.33 | 2.33 | 2.25 | 2.20 | 2.25 |
🥅 Sheffield United vs Chelsea: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
Since Chelsea are the big favourites for this match and the bookies think that both teams will get on the scoresheet, you can probably guess what it is that they are favouring for the over/under 2.5 goals markets. The bookies are adamant that three goals will be scored in this match, meaning that they are leaning towards a 2-1 win for Chelsea. If this is the case, I'm not sure why the odds are stacked so heavily in Chelsea's favour. You can see the over/under 2.5 goals odds below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.37 | 1.37 | 1.40 | 1.34 | 1.36 |
Under 2.5 | 2.86 | 2.86 | 2.90 | 2.88 | 2.95 |
✔️ Sheffield United vs Chelsea - Betting Tips
It is now time for my Sheffield United vs Chelsea betting tips, so give these a good read before you dive in and start placing any wagers with real money or some free bet. You are not obliged to, but you might find some golden pieces of information that will help you formulate a more educated wager.
- Tip 1: Bet on Chelsea to win: That thrilling win against Manchester United will do wonders for the rest of Chelsea's season, and they will head into this match full of confidence. Not only are they in better form than Sheffield United, but they have won the last four matches that they have played against them. It will take something special from the Blades to get anything from this match. You can find odds of 1.42 for a Chelsea win at 10Bet Sport.
- Tip2: Bet on both teams to score: Both teams have scored in 20 of Chelsea's 29 matches this season, while 53% of Sheffield's home games have seen both teams find the back of the net. Nine of Chelsea's previous ten matches and six of Sheffield United's have seen both teams score. Neither team can defend that well, so BTTS is a good bet - maybe as part of an accumulator. BetUK Sports are offering odds of 1.61 for this market.
- Tip 3: Bet on Cole Palmer to score: He has been one of the signings of the season and is the player whom Chelsea need to build their team around. He has 16 goals in 26 appearances for the Blues, so it is clear that he has no problem finding the back of the net. He has an added advantage as he is their penalty taker, and Chelsea have been awarded more pens than any other team this season. If you want to back Palmer to score, then LeoVegas have odds of 1.86.
- Tip 4: Bet on Chelsea to win 3-1: You should check out the correct score market regularly since the odds that are on offer are usually pretty enticing. It is not an easy market to get right, but you do not have to put down a big stake in order to land some decent potential returns. If you think that this match could indeed finish 3-1 to Chelsea, then Betiton Sports are offering odds of 9.15.
Before betting on any sport, set up a budget and make sure that you stick to it. Never try to recuperate the losses that you made.
1️⃣Sheffield United Update
Sheffield United are averaging a point every two games, so it is no wonder that they find themselves in such a pickle. They have just 15 points and are currently 10 points adrift of safety. Their goal difference is pretty embarrassing to boot, which basically means they are 11 points from being safe. They probably need to win seven of their remaining eight matches in order to stand any chance of survival.
From their previous ten matches, they have only picked up six points - one win, three draws, and six defeats. In this time, they have scored 1.30 goals per match while conceding 3.10. Check out their previous five EPL results below:

2️⃣Chelsea Update
Chelsea's win against United pushed them up to 10th place in the table, and they are now just five points behind Man United in 6th place. If all of their players click between now and the end of the season, then there is no reason why they cannot make a late push for the Europa League. It is still an underachievement, considering how much they have spent, but it is better than a mid-table finish.
The Blues are actually the 5th form team in the league at present, and they are now on a six-match unbeaten streak - three wins and three draws. Below you can find their previous five EPL results:
