The fifth 15:00 GMT kick-off on Saturday afternoon is a clash that sees Brentford travel up to the Midlands to take on Wolves at the Molineux Stadium. In all honesty, the best that both of these teams can hope for come May is a mid-table finish and a spot above Chelsea, who have spent an awful lot of money. The Bees are just three points above the Relegation Zone, so they arguably need the points more than Wolves, who are currently in 10th place. Keep on reading to find out how I think this Premier League match will play out.
🏆 Wolves vs Brentford: Who Will Win?
Wolves are the epitome of mid-table mediocrity as they are sitting exactly in 10th spot, having picked up 32 points from the 23 matches that they have played. However, when it comes to the current EPL form table over the last six matches, Wolverhampton are sitting in third place, having picked up four wins and a draw. In these six games, they have scored a total of 16 goals and conceded just the 8th. Gary O'Neill certainly has them playing some top football at present.
Brentford, on the other hand, are at the opposite spectrum of the form table, having just won one of their previous six outings in the EPL. In this time, they have scored just 7 goals, while conceding a total of 17. Only Sheffield United have performed worse than them over this same time frame. This has left them hovering perilously close to the Relegation Zone, However, with Ivan Toney back in the fold and scoring goals after his ban for betting on Brentford matches, those of a Bees persuasion will be hoping that they quickly climb away from a relegation battle.
Wolves' home form has been pretty solid in recent matches, while Brentford's away form has been nothing short of terrible. The Bees do have the players that can give any team a game in this league, but I really cannot look past their poor form. As a result, I am backing Wolves to come out on top, and my scoreline is going to be 3-1.
My Prediction: 🏆 Wolves 3 Brentford 1 ⚽
💯 Wolves vs Brentford Match Odds
Different gamblers like to bet on different markets when it comes to football, but the three markets that are the most popular among football bettors are the match winner, over/under 2.5 goals, and match winner. Below you can find the odds that five quality bookies are offering UK punters for these three top markets in relation to this Wolves vs Brentford game.

Wolves vs Brentford: Match Winner Odds
Wolves are the current favourites to win this game, but the fact that they have odds above 2.00 tells us that the bookies are feeling a bit iffy about this game. This is what makes the Premier League the best league in the world because anyone can beat anyone, even if they are not playing at the top of their game. You do not get this in Ligue 1 or the Serie A, where games are a lot more predictable. Below are the match winner odds for this Wolves vs Brentford match:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Wolves | 2.09 | 2.09 | 2.10 | 2.06 | 2.07 |
Draw | 3.50 | 3.50 | 3.55 | 3.60 | 3.60 |
Brentford | 3.15 | 3.15 | 3.25 | 3.40 | 3.45 |
Wolves vs Brentford: Both Teams To Score Odds
The bookies are pretty confident that both teams will score in this game, which is not surprising when you consider the fact that Wolves have scored in all but one of their previous six matches, while Brentford have scored in all of their past six games, despite having only won one of them. If you want to bet on this market, then the odds that are on offer can be seen in table below.
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.60 | 1.60 | 1.60 | 1.55 | 1.61 |
No | 2.19 | 2.19 | 2.20 | 2.18 | 2.25 |
Wolves vs Brentford: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
What about the total number of goals that will be scored in the match? Well, the bookmakers are less confident about the outcome of this market. They are slightly backing there to be at least three goals scored in the game. I am a bit surprised that they are not more confident with this market, and I will explain now in the next section. For now, you can just concern yourself with the odds for this market in the table below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.72 | 1.72 | 1.75 | 1.67 | 1.72 |
Under 2.5 | 1.98 | 1.98 | 2.05 | 2.08 | 2.15 |
✔️ Wolves vs Brentford - Betting Tips
A football prediction, in my view, is not complete if there are not football betting tips. So, in order to practice what I preach, I am now going to give you some top betting advice for this Wolves vs Brentford game.
- Tip 1: Bet on Wolves to win: Wolves are one of the form teams in the English Premier League at present, while Brentford are at the other end of the spectrum. Furthermore, history is also on Wolves' side as they have 9 wins from the 17 matches that they have played against each other. You should always consider form when betting, and those who want to bet on a Wolves win can find odds of 2.10 at 10Bet Sport.
- Tip 2: Bet on over 2.5 goals: Above I mentioned that I am somewhat surprised that the bookies are kind of sitting on the fence for this market. The reason for my surprise is that 16 of Brentford's 22 matches (73%) and 16 of Wolves' 23 matches (70%) have ended up having at least three goals scored in them. Goals are definitely never in short supply when these two teams are playing, so I would have thought that the odds for over 2.5 goals would be shorter. It is better for us though as there is more value to be had - 10Bet are offering odds of 1.75.
- Tip 3: Bet on Ivan Toney to score: I think Brentford will score just the one goal, and I think Toney will be the scorer as he is a quality striker. There is no doubt that the Bees have missed him during his ban for gambling offences, and he could end up being the difference between them getting relegated and staying in the EPL for another season. At the time of writing, Mr. Mega are offering odds of 1.72 for him to score.
- Tip 4: Bet on a 3-1 Wolves win: Do you, like me, also enjoy trying to predict the correct score of a match? I enjoy doing so because the odds are usually pretty decent due to the tricky nature of this market. If you want to bet on the score of this game, then I suggest you bet on 3-1 for Wolves. Betiton Sport currently have odds of 13.50 for this outcome.
1️⃣Wolves Update
Wolves are sitting in 10th place in the table, and with the Relegation Zone 13 points behind them, they can look forward rather than back. While I do not see them creeping into a European spot this season, they can play the rest of the season with little pressure on their shoulders and just see how high they can climb.
Stranger things have happened in football. They are in great form as of late and will head into this clash with Brentford with plenty of confidence under their belt after their 4-2 hammering of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

O'Neil is currently very fortunate with absentees as he currently has nobody ruled out of contention. Hee-Chan Hwang will be coming back from the Asia Cup after South Korea were dumped out in the semi-finals, and this will be a big boost for Wolves as he has been in fine form this season. We will just have to wait and see whether O'Neil decides to give him a weekend off after a tricky tournament.
2️⃣Brentford Update
Thomas Frank has done a wonderful job at Brentford on a much smaller budget than most of the other managers in the league, but it is fair to say that he is going through one of his toughest periods as manager of the Bees. From the last 30 points that have been on offer, they have only picked up 6, so they are now sitting just 3 points above the dreaded drop zone.
They are struggling in front of goal and are conceding too many at the back, which is a recipe for disaster in such a competitive league. I do think that they will have enough to stay up, especially with Ivan Toney back in the fold, but it will not be a season that Brentford fans will look back on fondly.
