The second semi-final of Euro 2024 will see the Netherlands take on England at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund on the 10th of July. This match has a scheduled kick-off time of 20:00 GMT, so make sure that you have all of your chores done by then so that you can sit down and watch the game in peace. Will England make it to their second consecutive European final or will the Netherlands show some Dutch courage and take one step closer to their first European success since 1988? This is a question which will be answered below.
🏆 Netherlands vs England Prediction
The Netherlands have blown hot and cold throughout this tournament, but they still find themselves in the semi-finals. They were expected to finish in the top two of their group, but they were beaten 3-2 by Austria and condemned to third place. This worked out well for them in the end though as it put them on the "easier" side of the draw. In the group stage, they scored four goals and conceded four, so they are at least an entertaining team to watch. They played Romania in the round of 16 and picked up a comfortable 3-0, while Türkiye made them sweat in the last eight. They were losing with 20 minutes to go, but two goals in six minutes swung the match their way.
England have been playing some really dire football at this tournament, but they have still managed to make it to the final four. They did manage to top their group, but many would have been expecting them to win all three of those matches - they won one and drew two. They took on Slovakia in the round of 16 and were just moments away from being eliminated. They made it through thanks to a brilliant overhead kick from Bellingham and an extra-time winner by Kane. Their performance against the Swiss was a little better, but they still needed a penalty shootout to book themselves a spot in the last four.
I am expecting a close game between these two nations, and I am going to back the game to end all square at the end of 90 minutes. My patriotic side is then going to back England to come out on top in extra time after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
My Prediction: 🏆 Netherlands 1 England 1 ⚽

🏅 Netherlands vs England: Match Winner Odds
The Netherlands and England have played a total of 22 matches against each other and the Dutch are leading the way with seven wins to England's six. There has been a total of nine draws between these two nations. The last time that they played was five years ago in the UEFA Nations League. The match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, and two goals in extra time saw the Dutch claim the win.
The bookies are expecting another close match between these two nations, but they have England as the ever-so-slight favourites to win in normal time. If you want to bet on the winner of this semi-final, feel free to check out the match winner odds in the table below:

Netherlands | 3.05 | 3.05 | 3.05 | 3.15 | 3.15 |

⚽ Netherlands vs England: Both Teams To Score Odds
The Netherlands and England both have some quality attacking players in their ranks, so you are probably expecting the bookies to back both teams to score in this game. However, the bookies are pretty certain that both teams will not score, which is good for us football bettors as it provides some value betting options. If you would like to place a BTTS bet on this game, then below are the current top odds that are on offer.
BTTS | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 2.00 | 2.00 | 2.00 | 1.98 | 2.05 |
No | 1.72 | 1.72 | 1.72 | 1.63 | 1.68 |
🥅 Netherlands vs England: Over/Under Goals Odds
The bookies are pretty adamant that there will be over 1.5 goals in this game and are equally as confident that there will be under 2.5 goals. Since they have England as the slight favourites and do not think both teams will score, these odds indicate the bookmakers feel that a 2-0 win for England is the most likely outcome. I would like to know what England they have been watching in recent weeks. Those who want to take on the over/under 2.5 goals market can check out the odds in the table below:
Over/Under 2.5 Goals | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 2.48 | 2.48 | 2.48 | 2.50 | 2.55 |
Under 2.5 | 1.47 | 1.47 | 1.47 | 1.43 | 1.49 |
✔️ Netherlands vs England Betting Tips
Now that I have provided you with some Netherlands vs England odds to keep in mind when you are wagering on this game, I am now going to use my betting guide to give you my top Netherlands vs England betting tips.
If you have a free bet to use then you might be tempted to slap it on something that has enticing odds. While this seems intriguing, what you are most likely doing is wasting a useful promotion. You should check out some top tips and then use your free bet with the knowledge that you have managed to gain.
- Tip 1: Bet on a draw: Neither of these two teams have managed to set the tournament alight so far, relying on pieces of individual brilliance to drag them through to the last four. The Dutch will look to take on the English defence, so maybe we will see the sort of attacking flair from England that we have been hoping for. However, Southgate is a bore of a man, so he will get England to play cautiously. They have been hard to beat in Germany, and I can see things being all square at the end of 90 minutes. Those who also see it being a draw after 90 minutes can find odds of 2.88 at BetUK Sports.
- Tip 2: Bet on both teams to score: The bookmakers do not think both teams will score in this match, but England have scored in all but one of their games so far, with the same being said for the Netherlands. If previous matches are to go by, the Dutch will probably score first, which will then force England into playing some football in order to get back into the game. If you think both teams will score in this game, then BetUK Sports are offering odds of 2.05 at present.
- Tip 3: Put money on Cody Gakpo to score: Cody Gakpo has been the main man for the Dutch in Germany, scoring three goals in the five matches that he has played in. He will probably find himself up against Kyle Walker, who has been awful at this tournament, so he will fancy his chances of getting the best of him. Walker will need to prevent Gakpo from cutting inside and shooting as he is devastating when allowed to do this - just ask Romania. If you think Gakpo will score against England, then LeoVegas are offering odds of 5.50 at the moment.
- Tip 4: Bet on a 1-1 scoreline after 90 minutes: These two teams are pretty equal on paper, so it should be a very close match on Wednesday. They will cancel each other out over 90 minutes, and I can see things ending 1-1. If you think that this is a plausible outcome, then you can find odds of 5.15 at Betiton Sport.
n.b. Gambling responsibly is very important. Make sure that you set a realistic budget and stick to it. Think about setting up a daily, weekly, or monthly deposit limit as well. Never chase your losses.
1️⃣Netherlands Update
The Netherlands were one of the outside favourites to lift the title in Germany, and now they are just two wins away from being able to lift the title. They have not been playing to the best of their ability, but they have shown what they are capable of in glimpses. Their best performance came against Romania in the round of 16, which they went on to win 3-0. They soaked up early pressure from the Romanians and scored three good goals to keep themselves alive in the competition. In my opinion, they have the best defence left in the tournament.
It will be interesting to see how Virgil van Dyke gets on against Harry Kane. In all honesty, I think Kane should be dropped for Watkins or Toney, but Southgate does not have the bottle to make such a big call. These two will have played against each other plenty of times, so I am looking forward to seeing who comes out on top in this head-to-head battle. Below you can see the previous five results for the Dutch team:

2️⃣England Update
England were one of the favourites to win this title, but they have certainly not been playing like favourites. They have one of the best squads in Europe, but they are being stifled by Southgate's negative tactics. He rarely makes substitutions when he should while he also has a tendency to keep picking players who are out of form. There is no way that the likes of Kane and Foden should start on Wednesday, but you can bet your bottom quid that they will. The fact that he has only given Ollie Watkins about 20 minutes of playing time and Anthony Gordon four minutes is a complete joke.
The main player to watch for England is Kobbie Mainoo. The Manchester United midfielder is just 19 years of age, but he has shown what a bright future he has ahead of him. For me, he has been England's best player in the previous two matches against Slovakia and Switzerland. He has been playing as if he has been playing in the centre of England's midfield for years now. Hopefully, he can put in another solid display against the Dutch and cap it off with a goal. Below are England's previous five results:
