The Solheim Cup is the biggest team even in the world of women's golf, and this year it will take place between the 12th and 15th of September. It will be played in Gainsville, Virginia, United States, at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, with Team Europe looking to retain the title they won last year. There will be plenty golf bets placed on this prestigious tournament, but check out my prediction below before you put down any of your hard-earned cash.
🎱 Solheim Cup Betting Preview
The Solheim Cup is usually played in even-numbered years, meaning it takes place every two years. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it temporarily switched to odd-numbered years, which is why we are lucky to be able to enjoy this competition two years in a row.
Last year's Solheim Cup edition was a historic one as it was the first time that the competition ended in a draw. If Europe had won, they would have made history themselves by winning three consecutive Solheim Cups, but a draw was at least good enough to see them retain the title. The USA have not lifted the trophy since 2017, so they will be eager to finish at the top of the 2024 Solheim Cup standings this time around.
The Solheim Cup has the same format as the male equivalent, which is the Ryder Cup. There will be 12 golfers on each team, with fourballs and foursomes being played on days one and two and single matches taking place on day three. In total, there are 28 points on offer, meaning that 14.5 points are needed to claim the title. If it ends 14-14, Europe will retain the title as they won it last.
Before making your own prediction on the Solheim Cup 2024 outright winner, it is important to do research on the two teams that will be going head-to-head. Below you can find out more about the players selected for both teams as well as the odds that some top UK betting sites are offering for them to be successful.

Odds for Team USA to Win:
🪢 Tie
The Solheim Cup, as we saw last year, is one of those competitions that can end as a draw - this happens if both of the teams finish with 14 points apiece. In such a scenario, the team that last won the competition will retain the title. Those who follow cricket and The Ashes will be familiar with such a concept. There has only ever been one draw, and this happened last year.

🏆 2024 Solheim Cup Prediction
Team USA are the slight favourites to win the title, which is not surprising when we take into consideration the fact that they have three players ranked in the top ten - in the form of Vu and Korda they have the two best players in the world. Europe, on the other hand, have just Celine Boutier, who is currently ranked as the ninth-best female golfer.
However, Europe lead the way regarding past experience in this competition, and experience is not something that should be ignored. In Anna Nordqvist, Team Europe have a Solheim Cup veteran as she has played in eight events in the past, while Charlie Hull and Carlota Ciganda have played in 7 and 6, respectively. Lexi Thompson is the most experienced on Team USA, with six Solheim Cup appearances, but there are seven players who will be making just their first or second appearance.
I think the two teams are pretty equal on paper, but I am going to back Team USA to come out on top. They will have the home advantage, which will spur them on towards victory. Furthermore, having the top two players in the world should go a long way to helping them seal the win.
My 2024 Solheim Cup Prediction: Team USA to win
⭐ Solheim Cup Betting Tips
Now that I have provided you with my Team USA Solheim Cup prediction for this year's edition of this prestigious competition, I am now going to give you some of my top betting tips. The first tip that I need to give you though is to always remember to gamble responsibly and never try to recuperate any of your losses.
Nelly Korda to Top Score for Team USA
Team USA is certainly not lacking in any quality, but Nella Korda can claim to be their best player. She is currently ranked as the World Number 1, has won six titles this year alone, and has a very decent Solheim Cup record. She has a 7-4-1 record in this competition, which means she has picked up 7.5 points in total - she has played at three editions, meaning she averages 2.5 points per edition.
She will likely take part in five matches, and she will be confident about winning all five, despite its difficulty. Just three players in the history of this event have scored four points in one edition, but Korda has the ability to do so.
Leona Maguire to Top Score for Team Europe
I am going to give you a Team Europe Solheim Cup prediction and this is that Leona Maguire will pick up the most points from the European contingent. She has an impressive record in the Solheim Cup, having picked up 7.5 points in two appearances. In her debut appearance back in 2021, she picked up 4.5 points, remaining unbeaten.
Like Korda, Maguire will likely be asked to play in five matches due to the quality that she possesses and her experience playing in this prestigious event. Since she will play more games than most of her teammates, she will have a good chance of picking up points and being her team's leading scorer.
Lauren Coughlin to be the Best Rookie?
Coughlin is ready to make her debut in the Solheim Cup this year and fully deserves to be playing after a superb season. The 31-year-old from Minnesota finished third on the points list for Team USA thanks to a fruitful summer where she won the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open and the CPKC Women's Open. In addition to this, she has finished in the top ten no fewer than five times this season.
She is one of the form players for Team USA, and none of the European players will be relishing having a match against her. It would certainly not be a surprise to see her finish as the best rookie this time around.
📊 Solheim Cup Past Winners
Before you go ahead and make your 2024 Solheim Cup prediction, you should take the time to see who has had the most success in previous editions. Winning breeds confidence, and confidence plus skill is a hard combination to beat. Heading into this next edition of the Solheim Cup, Team USA lead the way with ten wins top Team Europe's seven, but the latter has won four of the last seven competitions.
Something else that you should keep in mind when you are considering betting on the 2024 Solheim Cup is that seven of the previous 17 editions have been decided by no more than three points. The biggest victory occurred in 2013 and saw Europe win 18-10.
