Our second match for the fourth round of the Six Nations 2024 will be England vs Ireland. I am expecting to see magnificent scenes when the action kicks off at Twickenham at 4.45 p.m. on Saturday.
Our man in the middle will be Nika Amashukeli from Georgia. He will have help from the touch lines from Andrea Piarda and Craig Evans. Our TMO will be Ben Whitehouse.

There has been a lot of press coverage in the run-up to this game. Loyal fans of either side will be thinking they are in with a shot at another big win in the Six Nations, but who am I predicting will come off the pitch with smiles on their faces? Let us dig into some of the main factors that will help me determine my winner.
History
England and Ireland have taken to the field in 141 matches against each other. In their rivalry, England have managed 80 victories compared to Ireland's 53. Eight matches have also ended in a draw. England fans will be proud of this result, but it will do little to dampen the feeling about their last clashes with the Irish: Ireland won the last two in convincing fashion, 29-16 and 29-10 respectively. I think, taking off the historical blinkers, this may actually point to a win for Ireland.

I always say an ugly win is better than a beautiful loss, but England's two scrappy performances against Italy and Wales that culminated in a loss to Scotland last week look measly compared to what Ireland have achieved in the competition so far. Recent form is always a big tell for how each team will square up to each other, and this indicator screams of an Irish win.
World Rankings
This one is a simple case of Top Trumps: England in fifth are overshadowed by Ireland in second. Things are starting to look bleak for England.
Home Advantage
England love a home game at Twickenham, but the stadium, at least to those not in attendance, has seemed a little quiet this series. I think there could be a little advantage to England, but will this dramatically affect the final score? I am not convinced.
Weather
Not sure that I would call 14°C with sun typical English weather for this time of year; nonetheless both sides will be fine to play in such conditions, so there is no advantage here.
Game Play Styles
I can not imagine that there are many England rugby fans that understand what style of play for which their side are going at the moment - mainly because Head Coach Steve Borthwick seems to be coming up empty himself. They have carried over the drab kicking game developed under Eddie Jones, but apart from that, there is very little left in their arsenal.
Ireland, by contract, are again in marvellous form. They have quality in both the forwards and backs, being one of the best teams in the Northern Hemisphere at the break-down before making wide plays to set up any of their centres or wings. Their use of both 1-3-3-1 and 2-2-2-2 systems makes hard work for any opposition, creating chances where opponents have failed to adapt defensively.
Considering the masterclass from Ireland to which rugby fans are treated each week, I think Andy Farrell's men look most set to grab the big W on game play.

England are in dismal form lately, with their glory days long behind them. Ireland look like they are on the path to create another formidable unbeaten streak. This one is an easy call for me: Ireland to win by 12.

There are no guarantees in rugby, so anything could happen. Having said that, I am confident that Ireland look strong for this match, so I would be tempted to back them. At odds of 1.18 at All British Sports as the best option from my favourites, though, I think I will be looking at a handicap bet instead.
2️⃣ Asian Handicap Winner: Ireland (-10.5)
Were I being bold, I would consider going for the draw (12-0) at odds of 17.40 at Mr Mega Sports, but despite my confidence in Ireland to win by 12 points, I think this would be too much risk for my liking. As such, I think Ireland (-10.5) at odds of 1.66 at All British Sports would be the bet for me. This gives a nice balance of longer odds and leeway for Ireland to score a little less than or a lot over a 12-point difference.
