Prediction accuracy 2024: ✔️ TBD.
The third match of the 2024 Six Nations sees Scotland travel to the Principality Stadium to take on Wales in Cardiff. This match will be played on the 3rd of February and has a scheduled kick-off time of 16:45 GMT.
The man in charge of this one is New Zealand's Ben O'Keeffe, while he will be assisted on the touch lines by Angus Mabey (New Zealand) and James Doleman. It is an all-Kiwi officiating team for this one as Brendo Pickerill will be the Television Match Official.
This should be an entertaining match to finish off the first round of the tournament. Wales have plenty to prove after a poor showing last year, which saw them finish in 5th place. Scotland, on the other hand, will be looking to go one better than the 3rd place that they picked up in the 2023 edition. Which team will lift the Doddie Weir Cup this year? Well, take a read of this Wales vs Scotland prediction to find out.

Given Scotland's better form over the last year or so and the fact that this will be a bit of a transitional competition for the Welsh, it is not surprising to see that the bookmakers have the Scots as the slight favourites for this match. ➕ Wales v Scotland Handicap 3-Way Odds
You might already like the odds for either of these teams to win, or you might decide that you would like to make them a little higher. If that is the case, then you can opt to make use of handicap betting - this is where you give one team a points disadvantage before the first ball is kicked. Below you can find the handicap 3-way odds for this match:

If you decide to give Scotland a 4-point handicap and they win the match by 4 points, then your bet will be a losing one because your bookie will classify the result as a draw. 🔍 Wales v Scotland Winner Prediction
This is not going to be an easy match to call, especially with Wales wanting to prove everyone wrong and their young guns eager to show the rugby world what they are made of. Will the inexperienced Welsh team leave the Scots feeling blue? Let us look at some of the key predictors that can give us an insight into the potential winner.
- History: Wales and Scotland have played a total of 129 matches against each other, with Wales having won 75 times to Scotland's 51. There have been just the 3 draws in this time. So, history does favour the home side, but Scotland did thump Wales 35-7 in last season's competition. This is something that you should take into consideration.
- Home Advantage: Since this match is taking place at the Principality Stadium, Wales will have some big home advantage. There will be a partisan and enthusiastic crowd cheering on the Welsh, and the noise will be amplified if the roof is closed. However, I would imagine that there will still be a good number of Scots making their voices heard.
- Weather: The weather forecast states that it will be about 11°C, which is normal for this time of year. I do not think the weather will give an advantage to either Wales or Scotland.
- Game Play: When Gatland first took over as Wales Coach, he developed a system of play which involved the big men running up the middle and creating space with their bulk. However, they no longer have the players to play Warrenball, so they will need to move the ball wide and bring their wingers into play. Scotland, under Townsend, have become known for their attacking style of play, but it can leave gaps in defence. They believe that whatever their opponents score, they will score more. I think that the Scottish playing style will give them a better chance of winning.
li>World Ranking: Scotland are ranked as the 6th best team in the world, while Wales are sitting in 8th place. This tells us that Scotland have been performing better than their opponents over the last 12 months or so.
Both teams will feel like they can win this match, but I think the Scots have the better players and their experience should help see them to a win. My money is on Scotland to win by 15 points.
🏉 Scotland to win by 15 points!
✔️ Wales v Scotland Betting Tips
I am now going to give you some of my betting tips for this clash between Wales and Scotland. The first tip is a very important one and this is to ensure that you always gamble responsibly by not gambling with money that you cannot afford to potentially lose.
1️⃣ Match Winner: Scotland to Win
Sometimes the odds for the match winner are not worth looking at because they are too short, but I feel that the odds for a Scotland win are worth having a look at, especially if you opt to add it to an accumulator. If you want to bet on a Scotland win, then 10Bet Sport are offering odds of 1.73.
2️⃣ Asian Handicap Winner: Scotland (-5.5)
Since I think the Scots will be victorious by around 15 points, I think it is worth giving them a -5.5 Asian handicap as this will make their odds even more enticing. With such a wager, you would need them to win the match by at least 6 points, which they are more than capable of doing. If you want to put down such a handicap, then All British Sport are offering odds of 2.50.
3️⃣ Winning Margin
I enjoy checking out the winning margin market since the available odds can be pretty enticing. I believe Scotland can win by 15 points, so I like the look of the odds of 8.30 that Betiton are offering for the Scots to win by 11-15 points.
