💯 Summer Internationals Odds
The Summer Internationals do not work in the same way as other big rugby events, such as the Rugby World Cup and Six Nations, since you do not have the option of putting money on the team that will be the outright winner.
However, there is no need to despair as you will still have a variety of betting options for each game, and I will be providing you with my predictions for all of the biggest matches. If you want to check out the full schedule for the Summer Internationals, check out the "Fixtures" section later on in this guide.
✔️ Summer Internationals Betting Tips for 2024
If you believe that you will not have many betting options available for these Summer Internationals, then you are wrong as there will be plenty of market variations for the big games. Below I am going to take a closer look at the most popular markets that you will be able to put your money on.
1️⃣ 1x2 Betting
The Summer Internationals do not have an overall winner, but each individual game will have its own winner. Okay, there is the possibility of a rugby match ending in a draw, but the chances are slim. With the 1x2 market, you are trying to predict the outcome of the match. The 1 is representative of the home side, the X is representative of the draw, and the 2 is representative of the away team.
Top Tip 1: I know it is tempting to put a bet on the favourite of a rugby game because you believe that the result is a foregone conclusion. However, it is wise to do plenty of research because teams will sometimes experiment in these friendly international games, giving their fringe players and youngsters a taste of rugby at the highest level. Before you place a wager, you should find out as much team news as possible as knowledge is power.
2️⃣ Handicap Betting
When one team is playing a team that they are deemed to be so much better than, the odds that the bookies have available will not usually be worth looking at. This is because the odds for the favourites will be very low, while the chances of the underdog actually going on to win the match will be very slim. When such a match arises, handicap betting is a good option as it allows you to give a hypothetical advantage or disadvantage to one of the teams.
For example, in week three of the Summer Internationals, Scotland will play the USA and they will be big favourites to win the game. Therefore, you could consider giving the Scots a points disadvantage before kick-off in order to increase their odds slightly. You might think that handicap betting sounds easy, but you need to have plenty of rugby knowledge so that you do not lose more than you win. Obviously, there is some luck involved as well.
Top Tip 2: If you want to put down a handicap wager, then you have to visualise what could play out in the game. If you believe that Scotland's backs will be able to run freely and score tries while America's will struggle to break through the gain line, then estimate what the score could be and use this as a rough guide for the handicap bet that you place.
3️⃣ Winning Margin
The winning margin market sits in the same betting family as handicap betting since you need some luck on your side in order to be successful, but I would say that there is more precision needed for this market. Your bookie, whichever one you select, will provide you with a range of points brackets such as 1-6, 7-12, 13-18 and so on, and it is then down to you to choose the range that the final winning margin will fit in.
For example, if you bet on South Africa to beat Ireland by 7-12 points on July 13th and they go on and win by ten points, your wager will be a successful one.
Top Tip 3: The best time to consider taking a punt on this winning margin market is when two teams are playing that are evenly matched. If one of the top-tier nations is playing one of the lower-tier nations, then the winning margin could be anything come the final whistle. However, if two teams that are evenly matched are going at it, there might just be a solitary score in it. In this scenario, going for the 1-6 or 7-12 points range is a wise move.
4️⃣ Both Halves
With such a market, what you are doing is betting on the team that will win the first half and the team that will win the second. You will have nine possible outcomes to choose from, and you have to get both of them right for your bet to be successful. You will find higher odds with this market than with the match winner one because you are predicting two outcomes instead of one. Below you can see the nine different outcomes that you can bet on:
- 1/1
- 1/X
- 1/2
- X/1
- X/X
- X/2
- 2/1
- 2/X
- 2/2
Top Tip 4:: Not many teams can play at their highest level for the whole 80 minutes, while a coach's substitute approach and tactics can have a big impact on which way the match will go. A team that has a lot of depth in their squad will probably end up dominating both halves, but when two closely matched teams are going hammer and tongs, the upper hand will swing throughout the game. You will get higher odds for a swinging bet, but I tend to prefer backing one team to win both halves, so I would focus on matches such as Japan vs Georgia, USA vs Scotland, and South Africa vs Portugal.
5️⃣ Odd/Even Points
Some markets are simply there for some extra entertainment and do not require a lot of thought as the outcome is 50/50. This odd/even points market fits into this category and what you need to do here is predict whether the final combined points tally of the match will be an even or odd number. If you make use of this market, you will be able to cheer on the attacking or defending team depending on the current state of your bet.
Top Tip 5:: I suggest that you do not slap down a huge stake on a 50/50 bet because the chances of it going to be a losing one are high. This is one of those bet types where you should just put down a small bet in order to pump up the entertainment levels for the game. If you win, you have something to smile about, but if you lose it will not be the end of the world.
6️⃣ Accumulator Betting
If you want to try your luck on different markets in the same match or across a range of games but do not want to have to put down multiple stakes, then you can consider adding different choices in an accumulator bet, which is also called an acca or accy. Depending on the bookie that you decide to sign up with, there might be some limits on what you can add to your accumulator, but you should still have plenty of variation available to you.
Top Tip 6:: I know it is tempting to add more and more outcomes to your accy in order to increase the odds and the potential returns, but you need to remember that the chance of losing increases with every selection. With accumulator bets, all of your selections must be correct for the bet to be a successful one. Therefore, your chances of winning an acca with 10 selections are not very high, and you will be throwing your stake away, no matter how small it is.
💪 What Are the Best Summer Internationals Betting Sites?
For those British sports bettors who are yet to find the perfect bookmaker or are looking for something new to try out, below you can find out more information about five of my favourite sports betting sites.
1️⃣ MyriadPlay: Best New Rugby Betting Site
MyriadPlay only came into being earlier this year, but it has already gone on to become a very popular bookmaker among British rugby bettors. One reason for their early success is that they are never tight when it comes to the odds that they have on offer. Furthermore, they also have all of the most popular markets available, plenty of deposit and withdrawal options, and a quality mobile betting site.
If you opt to open an account at MyriadPlay then you will be able to claim a free bet worth £10 when you have bet £15. The main terms and conditions for this bonus can be seen below:
- New players only.
- Free bet is valid for 14 days.
- Minimum odds of 2.00
- Neteller, PayPal, Skrill, and Paysafecard deposits not accepted.
Those who want to find out more can do so by reading our in-depth Myriadplay review.
2️⃣ Gentlemanjim: Best for Rugby Mobile Betting
Gentleman Jim is another site that was released to the British public in 2024, and you will not be disappointed by the competitive odds and rugby market variation that they have available. However, where they stand out for me is with their mobile betting options. Many new bookies do not have a mobile app on offer, but Gentleman Jim bucks this trend. Their app does not lag, and I have yet to encounter any bugs while navigating and placing bets is a simple process. Their desktop site is also 100% mobile-compatible for those who do not want to add another app to their mobile device.
There are currently no bonuses or promotions available at Gentleman Jim, but they make up for this via their other top aspects.
If you want to find out more information about this bookmaker, then check out our Gentleman Jim review.
3️⃣ Betarno Sport: Competitive Odds on Rugby Events
The odds that a bookie has on offer are very important since it is these which dictate the type of returns that you can get when you manage to put down a successful bet. At Betarno Sport, which has been around since 2023, you will find competitive rugby odds for the biggest and most popular events. Alongside these competitive odds, you will find more rugby markets than at many other bookies, so entertainment is never in short supply.
Those who sign up at Betarno Sport can claim a a £20 free bet once they have put down a £10 bet. As always, there are T&Cs attached to this welcome offer, and you can see these below:
- New customers only.
- Minimum odds of 1.50.
- 1x wagering requirements.
- £200 maximum winnings from free bet.
- Deposits via Neteller and Skrill are not accepted.
Want to find out more before registering? Take five minutes to check out our in-depth Betarno review.
4️⃣ Highbet: Variety of Rugby Markets with Bet Builder
If you only had the option of betting on the match winner, then things would get boring quite quickly. Thankfully, there is not a bookie out there that will offer just one betting option for the sports that they have available. Many bookies now have a Bet Builder feature, where you can add a variety of outcomes in one match to one bet, and Highbet excels in this area. You can add markets such as the winning margin, the first try scorer, and the total number of points.
If you decide to open an account with Highbet, then there is a bonus of £25 up for grabs once you have put down a £10 wager. Take a look at the major terms and conditions for this bonus below:
- For new customers only.
- You will receive five free bets worth £5 each.
- PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, and Neteller deposits are not eligible.
- You will have 30 days to make use of the free bets.
Have a read of our Highbet review if you want to find out more about this bookie.
5️⃣ No Bonus: Best Rugby Live Streaming Betting Site
Many British bettors like watching a bit of the action first before they slap down some bets, which is known as live betting. No Bonus Sports has been around for a little over a year now, and they offer a quality live betting platform for rugby fans. They provide helpful stats, plenty of live rugby markets, and do not skimp on their odds. They also have a cashout feature, so you can cash out any bets if things start heading south.
Those who decide to complete the registration process at No Bonus Sports will not find a specific welcome bonus, but there is a 10% cashback feature available. Below is some important information regarding this feature:
- It is available daily.
- No wagering requirements.
- You can withdraw the cashback money if you like.
