Both men's and women's tennis have four Grand Slam events, and they take place at the same time, meaning that the women's Australian Open this year will be played between the 14th and 28th January. Many consider women's tennis to have much less quality compared to men's, but I am expecting just as much drama and entertainment when the women are out on the courts. There are many different tennis bets that sports bettors can put their money on, but check out my Australian Open women's prediction before you put down any wagers.

🎾 Women's Australian Open Betting Preview

There will be 128 women taking part in the women's Australian Open, although many of these are there simply to make up the numbers. There will be a total of 64 games that you can do a bit of tennis betting across the two weeks of action. The competition has a knockout format, which means that one loss will eliminate a player from the event.

Below I am going to take a look at four players who I feel will serve up some top performances at this year's Australian Open in Melbourne, and be in with a shout if claiming the magnificent trophy that is on offer. Under each of the four players, you will find the top 2024 Women's Australian Open odds that some established and new UK betting sites are offering at the time of writing.

1️⃣Iga Swiatek

The young Pole started this new season in top form, picking up three impressive wins in the United Cup over the likes of Qinwen Zheng, Caroline Garcia, and Angelique Kerber. She has picked up three French Open titles and one US Open title, but she has only made it to one semi-final of the Australian Open in five attempts. She also has a tricky draw to navigate as she has to play Sofia Kenin, who won the Australian Open in 2020, in the first round, while she will then have to make it past a potential match against Collins or Kerber.

2️⃣ Aryna Sabalenka

Sabalenka is the Australian Open reigning champion as she beat Elena Rybakina in last year's final, and it is safe to say that the draw was kinder to her than it was to Swiatek. She sits on the opposite draw to the Pole and Rybakina, and she will not face a real test until the last eight when it is likely that she will face Ons Jabeur. Sometimes she struggles with her nerves in big moments, but she showed last year that she has the ability to control them, winning 80% of her matches. Additionally, the conditions in Melbourne should suit her better.

3️⃣ Elena Rybakina

Rybakina will be entering the Australian Open 2024 with some solid form under her belt as she picked up the Brisbane International trophy last week, defeating Sabalenka 6-0, 6-3 in the final. She also took part in the Adelaide International but was knocked out in the quarter-finals by Ekaterina Alexandrova. Although not many expected her to lose that match, I do not think she will let it impact her that much. She was runner-up in the Australian Open last year, and this will give her lots of confidence this time around.

4️⃣ Coco Gauff

The American sensation is also on the weaker side of the 2024 Australian Open draw, and she knows the taste of success in a Grand Slam competition as she won the 2023 US Open. Now that she does not have the added pressure of getting her first Grand Slam title under her belt, she can play with much more freedom - this is definitely not good news for anyone who comes up against her. She has kicked off 2024 in fine style as she recently won in Auckland, losing just one set. She has not made it to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, but I am sure she will this time.

📊 Australian Open Winners

While Novak Djokovic has completely dominated the men's Australian Open, there has not been any such dominance in the women's version. For example, no woman has been able to defend their title in this competition since Azarenka did so back in 2012 and 2013. Since then, no fewer than eight players have won the title, which includes the likes of Naomi Osaka, Serena Williams, and Caroline Wozniacki.

You should always check out the players who have won previous editions of a particular tournament since it can give some understanding as to who will be victorious in the next edition. If a player has nothing but good experiences in a tournament, then there is a good chance that it will lead to future success. Therefore, with this in mind, below you can see the winners and runners-up from the previous ten years:

🏆 Women's Australian Open Prediction

So, who do I believe will become the Australian Open women’s winner in 2024? Well, I feel that the women's Australian Open is much harder to call this year than the men's. Swiatek, as you can see from the odds earlier on in this prediction, is the favourite with the sports betting sites, but I believe that there is more betting value in the form of Sabalenka.

Swiatek has struggled in this competition in the past as she sometimes struggles with the pace of the court, while Sabalenka won this event last year and loves playing on such surfaces. She has had a lot of success thanks to her aggressive style of play, but she needs to keep her yips at bay. I think that there is a good chance that Sabalenka will become the first woman to defend her title in this competition in a decade.

My Australian Open Prediction: Aryna Sablenka to win.

⭐ Women's Australian Open Betting Tips

So, now that you know who I am backing to go on and win the 2024 Australian Open, I am going to give you some top Australian Open women's betting tips to keep in mind when you are using Australian Open women's odds. The first and most important tip that I can give you is to always remember to gamble responsibly when you are betting on any type of sport.

Who Are My Dark Horses?

Every sports event has its dark horses, and some of the participants in the women's Australian Open that fit into this category include Liudmila Samsonova, Zheng Qiwen, Victoria Azarenka, and Jelena Ostapenko. All of these players will believe that they have the skills to go deep and potentially walk away with the trophy.

Top Tip 1: If you do not like the odds that the sportsbooks are currently offering for the favourites, for whatever reason, then I recommend that you consider betting on Azarenka to be victorious. She has already won the Australian Open twice, and it is a competition that brings out the best in her - she has reached the Quarter-Finals no fewer than six times. She has a very strong baseline game, while her backhand is one that many opponents struggle with.

Each Way Betting

In tennis, there is the option of putting money on an each-way wager, which allows you to earn some kind of return if your selected player makes it to the final but does not win. Obviously, if they do win, then you will get a nice return. If you are considering an each-way bet on the 2024 Australian Open, then keep the following in mind:

  • Seven of the previous ten finalists have been ranked outside of the top 10.
  • Nine of the last ten winners were ranked number six or higher in the rankings.
  • Six of the last ten victors had already secured at least one Grand Slam.
  • Seven of the last ten champions were winning the Australian Open title for the first time.
  • A player's form in previous championships is not a big indicator for future performances since previous winners have recently been knocked out early.

Top Tip 2: If I put down an each-way wager, then I would think about putting my money on Coco Gauff. She has an excellent chance of making it to the final this year as she finds herself on the weaker side of the draw, and she will enter the tournament in pretty decent form. She currently has decent odds that could lead to some intriguing each-way returns should she make her way to the Aus Open women's final.

Who Would I Not Bet On?

There will always be those players who fail to live up to the expectations placed upon them ahead of a competition, and I am sure that the 2024 Australian Open will be no exception to this. So, who would I suggest that you avoid placing a bet on?

Top Tip 3: Naomi Osaka might have two Australian Open titles under her belt, but I do not see her coming close to winning the trophy this time. She played in the Brisbane International last week and struggled to dominate her opponents like she has done in the past. She scraped a win in her first match and was then knocked out by Pliskova, who is not the player that she once was. If she is going to trouble the big guns in future events, then she has to play more to get her consistency up.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions About the Women's Australian Open

What Are the Best Betting Sites for the 2024 Australian Open?

The majority of sportsbooks will offer a range of markets and competitive odds for the Australian Open, but not all bookies have been created in an equal manner. The three sites that I recommend to British tennis bettors include Betiton Sports, William Hill, and Spreadex.

Who Will Win the Women's 2024 Australian Open?

There are a handful of players who think that they can go on to win the women's Australian Open in 2024, but the player who I believe will win the title is Sabalenka. She has a very powerful game that not many of her opponents can contend with. Additionally, her game is well-suited for this kind of court.

Who Has the Most Australian Open Titles?

Serena William has picked up the most Australian Open titles as she has won it seven times. This was in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2015, and 2017.
