📝 US Open Tennis Betting Tips
Now that you know where to find the best US Open tennis betting odds, I am going to give you four of the best betting tips for the 2024 US Open.
Who Will be the Men's Singles Champion?
The men’s U.S. Open tennis has been the hardest Grand Slam to predict in recent years as it has had five different winners in the last five years, but I am going to give it a go and predict that the winner of the 2024 Men's US Open Tennis will come from the trio of Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. The bookies appear to think along similar lines and have made the World’s Top three players the clear favourites for the title.
Sinner has had a great year winning in Australia and adding three further titles, while Alcaraz has won the 2024 French Open as well as defeating Djokovic in the Wimbledon Final on July 14th. Of the three, I will go for Novak Djokovic to win Grand Slam number 25 in New York on September 8th.
Top Tip No 1: Bet on Novak Djokovic to win: If this prediction had been written a few weeks ago I would have had Alcaraz as my pick but what Djokovic did at the Olympics has changed my mind. He battled through to win the Gold Medal he has craved for so much of his career, beating Alcaraz in a brilliant Gold Medal match, and I think finally winning his Gold will free him up to chase down Grand Slam number 25, thus making him the most successful Singles player in the history of tennis.
Who Will be the Dark Horses in the Men's Singles Championship?
While I have predicted that Novak Djokovic will win the 2024 US Open, there are quite a few in this year’s field who will feel that they are more than capable of causing an upset and winning one of the sports most coveted trophies. Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz and Daniil Medvedev will all be looking to make an impact once the tournament gets underway.
Top Tip No 2: Daniil Medvedev cannot be written off on a hard court: It’s strange to be calling the 2021 US Open champion a dark horse for a hardcourt tournament but that’s what he is for this year’s US Open. He will surely feel confident however if he gets to the latter stages of the tournament and must face one of the top guys, as he has beaten them all at previous Grand Slams.
Who Will Win the Women's Title?
There are several women who will fancy their chances of lifting the trophy on September 7th. Aryna Sabalenka is a two-time Grand Slam winner and has previous in New York. Iga Swiatek is the top player in the women’s game but will have to bounce back from a poor enough Wimbledon and her shock Olympics exit, while Coco Gauff has had a quiet enough year but returns to the venue of her greatest triumph.
The women’s draw has an open feel to it this year but I’m going go for Iga Swiatek to bounce back and triumph in New York.
Top Tip No 3: Back Iga Swiatek to Triumph: The 23-year-old Polish star has already won five titles this year, including another French Open and even though the summer has not gone to plan with an early exit at Wimbledon and winning Bronze at Paris 2024, I expect to see her back to her best on a hard court at Flushing Meadows. She has already won a Women's US Open Tennis in 2022 and if she is on form I expect her to add a second on the 7th of September.
Who Will be the Dark Horses in the Women’s Singles Championship?
There are quite a few players in the women’s competition who should be considered dark horses for the title. Naomi Osaka is a two-time tournament winner on the comeback trail, Donna Vekic has had a great summer so far, reaching a Wimbledon Semi-Final before winning a silver medal at the Olympics, while the Gold Medal winner from Paris Qinwen Zhang is bound to be heading to New York full of confidence.
Top Tip No 4: Qinwen Zhang Could Cause a Further Shock : The Chinese player has proven herself on a hard court reaching the Australian Open Final in early 2024. That was before she went and shocked everyone by winning the Olympic Gold beating Swiatek along the way in Roland Garros. If she can take the confidence of Paris to New York she could well shock everybody once more and win her first Grand Slam.
Below is a table with my four top tips for the US Open Tennis 2024 and the best odds offered on each one.
Categories | Prediction | Reason | Odds |
---|---|---|---|
Outright Men's Winner | Novak Djokovic | Has just won a legendary Olympic Gold Medal match against Alcaraz and appears fully fit to chase Grand Slam number 25. | 3.15 |
Men’s Dark Horse | Daniil Medvedev | Has Grand Slam pedigree and has the game to trouble the favourites in New York | 8.00 |
Outright Women’s Winner | Iga Swiatek | Has already won five titles this year and goes into New York with a point to prove. | 4.75 |
Women’s Dark Horse | Qinwen Zheng | Has already shown form on the hard courts in Australia, and after winning the Olympic Gold Medal should be full of confidence. | 29.00 |
🥇 US Open Tennis 2024 Winners - The Favourites for The Title
In this section of our 2024 US Open tennis preview, I am going to have a look more at the three men and women I predict are going to be battling for the titles in New York. I will look at their styles of play and what makes them contenders for the Championships, and how they have performed so far in 2024.
Novak Djokovic
The legendary Serbian player has won the title in New York four times in the past, including last year. He suffered a knee injury at this year’s French Open but somehow recovered and made the Wimbledon Final just five weeks later, before losing comfortably to Alcaraz. He gained some revenge for that loss however by claiming the one accolade that had eluded him so far in his storied career, the Olympic Gold medal, beating Alcaraz in one of the greatest two-set matches ever seen. That Gold medal, his first tournament win of the year could be the catalyst for him to finish off the summer swing with another Grand Slam, his twenty-fifth.
Carlos Alcaraz
The 21-year-old is already a four-time Grand Slam Champion, and has won this title before, in 2022. He easily dispatched of Djokovic in this year’s Wimbledon Final and would have felt confident going into the Olympics, but he was beaten by Djokovic in Roland Garros. That will be a tough defeat to take, but 2024 hasn’t gone too badly for the young Spanish star. He has two Grand Slams in the bag, The French Open and that Wimbledon title, as well the Miami Masters win. His aggressive, all court game make him one of the most devastating players to ever play the game, with his forehand already one of the sport’s best ever shots.
Jannik Sinner
The 22-year-old Italian is the current World No 1, the first Italian, either male or female to achieve such status. This aggressive and powerful baseliner possesses one of the best two-handed backhands in the game, while his forehand isn’t exactly a weakness either, due to the short take back he has on that side which allows him to generate huge power. So far, in 2024 he has won his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open and won a further three titles, and he will be looking to make a bigger impact at this year’s Tennis US Open. The last major of the year is the only one of the four slams where he has yet to reach the semi-final.
Iga Swiatek
Swiatek has had a remarkable rise to the top of the game over the last few years. She has won four French Open titles including this year’s tournament and a US Open marking her down as the top player of this current generation. She has remarkable speed around the court and her groundstrokes are quick and powerful, allowing her to consistently take control of rallies. She was the heavy favourite to add the Olympic Gold to her resume in Roland Garros, a venue she has dominated recently, but left with the Bronze Medal after being shocked by Qinwen Zheng in the semi-final.
Coco Gauff
The defending US champion has one title in 2024 as well as making the semi-finals at the Australian Open and the French Open, but her Wimbledon and Olympics did not go the well, so she has something of a point to prove returning to the venue of her 2023 success. Gauff certainly has the skill and athleticism to deserve her place on any US Open Women's prediction lists, but only if can she return to the form that saw her win in 2023.
Aryna Sabalenka
Sabalenka reached the Final at Flushing Meadows in 2023 losing to Gauff in three sets so will aspire to go one better at this year’s tournament. She has had an up and down 2024 up to now, she won her second consecutive Australian Open at the start of the year but has also lost the other three finals she has played. She then had to pull out of Wimbledon through injury, but if she is back fully fit, she is undoubtedly one of the heavy favourites to lift the US Open title on September 7th. She possesses one of the biggest serves in the women’s game, and if her groundstrokes are firing, she can blow anyone off the court with her power.

🔎 US Open Tennis Betting Markets
In this section of our 2024 US Open Tennis betting guide, I will show you some of the most popular betting markets available to punters for this year’s tournament.
Outright Winner
The outright winner market is very easy to navigate for bettors. With this bet type all you have do is pick the player you think is going to win the competition and then place a bet on that player with your preferred bookmaker. If the player goes onto win the tournament you will collect on your stake.
Match Betting
This is perhaps the easiest betting market to work through. With a match bet you are simply selecting which player you think will win an individual match and betting on them. If the player wins, you win your bet, if they lose, you lose your initial stake.
Handicap Betting
Sometimes there are matches where the odds are heavily stacked in one player’s favour. When this is the case, it might be best to look at the Handicap Betting market. This bet can level the playing field odds-wise by handing a player a points advantage or disadvantage. For example, if you were to give Carlos Alcaraz a -1.5-set disadvantage he would have to win the match by two clear sets.

🏁 History of the Tournament
The US Open tennis tournament, one of the four prestigious Grand Slam events, has a rich history that began in 1881. Originally played on grass courts at the Newport Casino in Rhode Island, it featured only men’s singles and doubles. Women’s singles were added in 1887, followed by women’s doubles in 1889 and mixed doubles in 1892.
Throughout its history, the US Open has been played on various surfaces—grass until 1974, clay from 1975 to 1977, and since 1978, on hard courts. Notably, Jimmy Connors is the only player to have won singles titles on all three surfaces at the US Open Tennis.
Richard Sears dominated the early years, winning the men’s singles title for seven consecutive years from 1881 to 1887. In the Open Era, the record for the most men’s singles titles is held by Jimmy Connors, Pete Sampras, and Roger Federer, each with five titles. Chris Evert holds the women’s record in the Open Era with six titles.
The tournament is also known for its massive prize money, with the 2024 tournament offering the men’s and women’s singles winners a cool $3,600,000.
